Each year certain students receive hearing and vision screenings:

A hearing screening is mandated for elementary students in kindergarten, first, second and third grades.

A vision screening is mandated for students in kindergarten and second grade.

In addition, students receiving special education services and students who are new to the State of Illinois schools will have vision and hearing screenings performed. These will be completed by our vision and hearing screener or by a Certified School Nurse. Davis Primary is scheduled for these routine screenings on 1/12, 1/13, 1/19, 1/20, and 1/24. Additional dates will be added if needed.

Headphones will be put on your child for the hearing screening and your child may have to put their head into a vision screening machine if a touchless vision camera is not available. Cleaning of equipment will take place as well as social distancing. In light of this, if you DO NOT want your child screened, please e-mail sherry.wisdom@d303.org.

Per the CUSD 303 Elementary School Handbook, we will be going outside for recess as long as the temperature (with wind chill) is above 0˚F and it is not raining. With that in mind, please make sure your child is dressed to go outside on days when it is cold, snowy or windy. Students should bring outerwear to school in a bag to put on before recess. Please make sure they have snow pants, hats, warm waterproof gloves, scarves and boots if they want to play in the snow. Don’t forget to label your child’s outerwear so it does not end up in the Lost & Found. Thank you!

Empower 3rd graders worked hard for weeks creating amazing board games while our 4th and 5th graders persevered and problem solved to create awesome projects using electricity. This month 3rd and 4th grades will be working to Make a Difference in the world while 5th grade will be learning about the languages offered in middle school.
