Kia ora Tātou

Welcome to Term 2 of 2022!

We have had a great start to the term and our amazing staff continue to impress me with their tireless passion for the students and their learning.

Thank you so much for supporting us with our new systems at Orange Level Covid restrictions. It is fantastic to have our classrooms full once again and our learners all super focused.

As you know Mr John Byers is away on sabbatical this term and during this time I have the privilege of standing in for him. Please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Chris Finucane (who is our Acting Deputy Principal this term) if there is anything that we can help you with. Thanks for being our partners in the education of these fantastic ākonga (students).

HERO

Week One has been a busy week, with the first week of HERO (Student Management System) up and running in the school. We have been introducing the students to this at the upper end of the school. The next step in our journey with HERO is for us all to continue familiarizing ourselves with it as well as introducing you, our community, to it. This system is designed to work on phones, tablets or computers so that you are able to communicate and know what your child(ren) are learning about at any time. As well as report absences, receive notices and many other facets. Obviously, as this is very new this term we are still exploring the many uses that this system has to offer.

It is time to get our parents/caregivers/whānau connected.

Step 1- Download the HERO app onto your phone or search for it on your computer.

Step 2 - Open it and click on new user

Step 3 - Enter the email address that we have registered for you and follow the directions

Step 4 - Make your new password

Step 5 - Have a look around your new app. Please let us know if you have any issues with this.

Contact Di Meyler, Chris Finucane, Hayley Williams or Kim Hayes. Any of us can help you.

Property

As you can see we have been very busy over the break working on finishing our building and painting of the classrooms that were started last year, and having our front fence updated. The school has had a fantastic facelift over the last 6 months and we look forward to you being able to pop in and see it all completed in the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience while we complete the last few projects.

Assemblies

We are so happy to be able to invite you back to school for our weekly assemblies. These are held at 9.15am on Friday mornings and are a chance for us to gather, and celebrate and share in our learning. We look forward to seeing you if you can make it. Please remember to wear your mask.

Change of Clothes

With this term being a colder, wetter term it would be appreciated if your children had a change of clothes in their bag, so in the event that they get wet or muddy they could change into these. We definitely do not want our tamariki to stop playing, however it does make it a lot easier if they can change out of wet and muddy clothes.
