DIBELS 8 DUE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th
As part of our SPSA Plan 100% of classrooms will implement Literacy Academies to target literacy skills during small group instruction. In order to plan for our minimum day on Friday, September 17th we ask that you complete your DIBELS 8 assessments by Wednesday, September 15th. You will be analyzing data and grouping your students using a google slide. This will also give you the opportunity to start planning instruction for your small groups. We are here to support the work at hand.
Literacy Academies
Thank you, teachers, for your patience as we finalize testing of our intensive students. We will begin Literacy Academies on Monday, September 13th. Let's use next week's Academy time to set up Rituals and Routines for our students. We will be coming into your classroom to see how we can support you with small groups during academy time.
Message from Mr. Melendez Title 3 Instructional Coach
This year one of our foci is based on standard 3 of the teaching learning framework. It involves classroom discussions, using questioning and discussion techniques, developing questions, and student participation. In last week’s weekly, I suggested that you gather some data on student participation during class discussions. You haven’t done so, you have an opportunity this week. I will be making classroom observations on Wednesday, September 8 to gather school wide data on classroom discussions.
Teaching and Learning Framework
Standard 3: Delivery of Instruction
b. Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques
1. Quality and Purpose of Questions
2.Discussion Techniques and Student Participation
2021-2022 SPSA Measurable Goal
By June 2022, English Learners scoring proficient (Overall Level 4) on ELPAC will increase from 7% to 30% as measured by the Summative ELPAC assessment.
A Note from the STEAM Instructional Coach, Ms. Muro
Welcome back, Teachers! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. This week, we will begin our ½ day PD’s for our first IIS. I’m excited to have Erica Lee, an LD East Science Coach, join us for part of our session. She will be sharing a planning tool to help us better integrate our Science and ELA. For your designated planning block, please bring your TE’s, a hard copy of your student readers, and an electronic device. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, shoot me an email or come by Room 1.
