Wallace v. Jaffree (1985)

In Alabama their was a moment of silence law designed to promote a new type of prayer. Ishmael Jaffree a parent Of three school children, challenged Alabama law and filed a complaint.

Ruling

A state's law creating a moment of silence in the public schools is ruled unconstitutional since it did endorse a type of prayer. Students should be left to their own devices during the moment of silence and not forced into prayer.
