A WEEKLY UPDATE FROM MRS. MARTINEZ

HELLO TIGERS!

Hey Tigers!

As we enter our 4th 9-weeks and our lives have all been turned on end, I want to send out a note with hopes that everyone is staying healthy! We are all entering uncharted grounds, so we are all learning together - FROM HOME! Just when we all thought that would be awesome, we all (or most) can't wait to get back to school and some sort of "normal".

What can you be doing now??

  1. Apply to a 2 or 4 year college! Use http://www.applytexas.org OR http://www.commonapp.org
  2. Apply to a trade school! https://www.tstc.edu/
  3. Request transcripts through Naviance. The registrar will be processing transcripts that are requested through Naviance. (See below for instructions on how to do this)
  4. Apply for scholarships! I post lots of scholarships down below or you can go here http://www.collegeguidanceconsultants.com/ , the username and password is: ftbend
  5. Finalize college plans. Narrow your list, choose a college, find a roommate, living arrangements, orientation, register for the TSI testing if needed.
  6. Explore career options!
  7. ASK ME QUESTIONS :)

FAFSA: FAFSA opened on October 1st. If you haven't already filled this out - don't delay. There is a student and a parent portion. The FAFSA is used for all types of financial aide, including loans, grants, and even scholarships. To apply go to https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa

TSI: At this point, we are unsure of how the TSI will be given to students who are in need prior to going to college. My suggestions to all students who are required to TSI test before enrolling in college level courses should reach out to your prospective college for options regarding the TSI test. Please be proactive in regards to the TSI test and take the time to communicate with the college you are planning to attend. If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would be happy to assist you with anything you may need.
