Miss Kerr is a hard working teacher who goes above and beyond with her students. She attends every extracurricular activity with her yearbook staff as well as after school practices with her dance team. She loves teaching all three subjects and does it with enthusiasm and a contagious positive attitude.

Madison enjoys dancing with Artistic Motion Academy. She has participated in dance outside of school for three years and she is presently enjoying Pointe Ballet. Madison is also in the Hughes Middle School Dance II class. She remarked that dance takes up most her extra time, but she really enjoys it!!
Why was this student selected for Student of the Month?
Madison was chosen for May 2018 - HMS Student of the Month. She works hard and always has a smile on her face. She is always very respectful towards her teachers and her peers. Madison’s favorite class is Math with Ms. Riley. Madison is already preparing for high school and has set one of her high school goals to be in the National Honor Society at Burleson High School. Way to go Madison!

Ryan plays baseball outside of school for a select team called the Wolf Pack. He said his team colors are Red, Black and White – perfect Burleson colors where Ryan plans to plan baseball next year for the Elks!

Ryan’s teachers comment that he always has a positive attitude and works hard on everything in school. He is funny and always polite to his peers. Ryan enjoys several of his classes – Athletics, Art and Math. Congratulations on being Student of the Month for May Ryan!

Heroes for Children Award
The State Board of Education established the Heroes for Children award program in 1994. The award is designed to recognize excellence in advocacy for education and to highlight the many outstanding volunteers whose efforts represent significant contributions to public school education in Texas.
The link will provide more information, as well as the nomination process and form. The nomination period begins March 12, 2018 and ends on May 25, 2018 at 5 pm
