9-week Grading Period Extension - From Mr. Joyner

The district has extended the 1st 9 week grading period - 10/17/17 being the last day of the 9 week period.

Grades need to be posted 10/18 by 3:30PM The posting window is currently open, so post at your convenience.

Progress reports will be distributed during Advisement on Friday, 10/20

How do you move forward, and what are the expectations?

Teachers with semester long courses - keep it moving, and continue to input grades into first nine weeks until 10/17.

PE and Health courses - I believe your classes have already made the adjustments in order to end the 9 weeks todady. Begin your new courses (second 9 weeks) tomorrow. However, if you have students with outstanding assignments, those students have until 10/17 to turn in assignments if you are allowing make-up, redo, etc

Civics and Geography - Decide on a class by class basis when you need to end first nine weeks and begin second nine weeks. You may have students only scheduled to take civics or geo. In cases where a student is only taking half of the course, please contact the parent and explain when the class will end. Also contact the student's second 9 week teacher to inform when your class is ending.

I apologize for any inconvenience and or confusion this may cause. Please contact me with questions, comments, concerns.

October Extended Day Update

The Leadership Team discussed the different proposals to the extended day during Wednesday's Leadership Team meeting. A decision was made to continue with the 5 minutes added to every period for October. I have not received word on whether there will be changes for November and December; however, we will revisit the conversation if necessary.

From Ms. Darden - RtI - ACTION REQUIRED

Just a reminder that interventions need to be documented in the folders that were shared with all teachers. If you have students on your roll that are in RTI, you should have received a folder for them. Also work samples should be uploaded into Infinite Campus for your RTI students at least once a week. I have sent instructions for uploading a few times, however, if you still need assistance please let me know.

Unfortunately after checking the folders, interventions are not being recorded for students. Teachers, I know you all are extremely busy, however, this is information that is required for our students as part of the RTI process. If you modify an assignment, provide opportunities for peer help, use Khan Academy, tutorial or any other assistance for students in RTI, please document that in the Intervention form in the folders.

Writing Passes

Please ensure your students have a pass from you before leaving your class. The Administrative team does ask students for their pass to ensure they were approved to leave your class and are in the correct building. Teachers who continue not to abide by the expectation are subject to being written-up. Thank you!

Sports Updates

Congratulations to our softball team for placing 4th in Region 4-4A and qualifying for the State Playoffs. The Red Devils fought valiantly, but fell to Thomson in the first round.

Good luck to Volleyball as they play their first round playoff match at Upson-Lee High School Thursday 10/12 at 6:30pm.
