5th Grade eLearning Expectations
We wanted to reach out to you and give ADDITIONAL resources and activities to do!
Reading
Students brought home several library books and book club books to read while off of school. When they finish a book, they should take an AR quiz on that book. Quizzes can be taken from 8:30am-3pm each day.
AR link: https://hosted130.renlearn.com/176831/Students should be writing about their reading or at least having conversations about their reading. Try to be active in their reading life by asking questions. Here are some questions/discussion topics:
- Tell me about your character and how you have seen them change over time.
- Has your character done anything that was surprising and unlike their personality? Why do you think they did that? What does that say about your character?
- Has anything CRAZY happened? (especially in fantasy texts)
- Has anything like this ever happened to you? Does it remind you of something?
- Tell me what you were imagining in your mind as you read that page/paragraph.
- Tell me the most important things you read today in order of how they happened. Do you think it will be important to remember this? Why?
- Are there some parts of this story that are more important than others? Which ones? Why are they most important?
- What do you think will happen next? Why?
- What do you think is the theme or life lesson? (Ask at the end or towards the end of books)
The students have been listening to our mentor text, The Thief of Always. I have found the reading on YouTube and will list the links. The students should finish this book before returning to school. We can take an AR Quiz together when we get back!
We finished Chapter 14 in class, so the students should start at Chapter 15. Here is the full playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi3si8YJ3HqZI34vG0Fq6AZNAI2KVyRw0
