Hello Chippewa Families,
As the nights get darker earlier and the weeks are flying by, we turn our attention to the holidays. Last year, with the help of our generous community and friends, we were able to bless over twenty Chippewa families with some extra support and love for the holidays.
I wanted to invite you, should you wish, to join our school community and help some of our friends and families with additional support and holiday spirit again this year.
I am working closely with the school and deans and we have had a number of specific requests for support including; winter clothing, underwear and pajamas, bedding, cleaning, hygiene and laundry supplies, gift cards for food and gifts - all for families in our Chippewa community.
If any of you are interested in helping support this initiative either with financial resources, specific donations or your time please contact me.
We are keen to make our Chippewa families holiday season a little brighter.
Financial donations can be made via check (payable to ChAC) PayPal or Venmo

From the Health Office
Cold and flu season has arrived. We have started seeing an uptick in illnesses, including the flu, common cold, and other respiratory illnesses across the community. Here are a few reminders to help keep your students, your family, and others healthy as we head into the holiday season:
Cover your cough
Keep your student home if they are not feeling well - find the guidelines here
Drink plenty of fluids
Wash hands frequently
Test for COVID (we have home tests available at school - just ask the Health Office if you would like one sent home or if you would like to pick one up)

Ski and Snowboard Club
The after-school ski and snowboarding club will be held at the Wild Mountain Ski Resort, located in Taylors Falls. The club meets for eight sessions. There are three pricing options available:
- $350 includes eight lift tickets, ski corral, one lesson and motorcoach transportation to and from the ski resort.
- $510 includes eight lift tickets, equipment rental, ski corral, one lesson and motorcoach transportation to and from the ski resort (Wild mountain also offers leasing options)
- $208 includes motorcoach transportation to and from the ski resort only. (A copy of the registered students Wild Mountain Season Ski Pass must be sent to the school Co-Curricular Coordinator/HS Asst. Athletic Director prior to season starting)
More information regarding after-school ski and snowboard can be found at Community Ed Ski & Snowboard Program website
Parent Chaperones are Needed! You don't have to ski, we are looking for Chalet only chaperones too. Without chaperones there is no ski program. Buses are chaperoned by Mounds View District parents. Chaperones help take attendance and maintain order on buses. Additional responsibilities are posted on our website. Chaperones will receive a free lift ticket, rental equipment and lesson each night. It is preferred that chaperones work for all 8 weeks. As with all school volunteers, a routine background check will be required. Contact the ski supervisor at your child’s school for information.
Did you know?
Online ticketing is available for all regular season athletic games at the high schools. As the winter sports season approaches, visit mvpschools.org/tickets to access the ticket sales portal or download the HomeTown Ticketing app.
Snow Days: Five Things You Should Know
It’s been a while since we’ve experienced a weather-related school cancellation. Here are five things to remember this year:
- If winter weather conditions force school closures this year, there will be no instruction held on the affected day(s).
Families will not receive a “We’ll be open tomorrow” message during wintery weather evenings. Always assume schools will remain in session, until you hear or see differently from Mounds View Public Schools.
Within 20 minutes of a decision to close schools, families will receive text, voicemail and email messages. Make sure your contact information is current in ParentVUE. Instructions can be found here.
Want your student to also receive an alert? Parents can add their student’s cell phone for emergency text alerts in ParentVUE. Here’s how.
If you've blocked ANY previous text messages from us in the past, you won't receive any emergency alerts. To unblock your cell phone, contact your school's front office.
The decision to close schools is a difficult one to make, and we realize that it significantly impacts all of our families. To learn more about the criteria for school closures, visit here.
After School Academic Support
Chippewa offers after-school academic support three days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Students must plan for a ride home by 3:45pm.
