Better Together

Families,

We are pleased to share that a Wiggin Street parent introduced to us and ordered a Rubicon Trick or Trash box for our school! Students viewed the video below in class to learn about how the candy wrappers are recycled and start their Second Life® as part of the circular economy.

The Trick or Trash box will be in the office tomorrow for any wrappers from class parties. We will then place it under the awning at the side entrance for the weekend, so feel free to stop by with candy wrappers from Halloween. You can learn more at this website.

Hope you all have a frightfully, fun Halloween weekend with lots of treats and no tricks!

Warmly,

Christy Grandstaff

Thrive Kids Update

Thrive Kids with Coach Hannah

This week at Thrive Kids we went on a spooky adventure as we worked our way through an imaginary spooky house. The students rolled like a pumpkin, squatted to avoid flying bats, jumped on spiders and lunged their way to safety! We also focused on the importance of not disguising ourselves to be someone we are not. Halloween is an excellent time to wear a disguise and pretend we are someone we are not but we encouraged students to take off the disguises they may wear in order to fit in or appear to be something they are not! Its not always easy, but that’s exactly why we practice doing hard things!

Pumpkins on Parade

Thanks to all that came out to decorate pumpkins Tuesday evening! The kids had a great time, and we all enjoyed the generous donation of goodies from Panera!

Veterans Day

Sadly, we will not be having a Veterans Day assembly this year, but are happily making other plans to educate our students about the holiday as well as honoring Veterans for their service. We will be having a flag ceremony with our students on the morning of November 9th as a culminating event. This ceremony will be recorded and shared with families in the form of a video. We would love to include videos of students recognizing a Veteran that is or has been in their life. It's as easy as going to this site and recording your student thanking a veteran for their service. If you have difficulty, 1 1/2-2 min. videos can be made on your phone and emailed to cgrandstaff@mvcsd.us.The following are examples of questions that may be answered in the video:

1. How is the student associated to the Veteran?

2. What years did the Veteran serve?

3. Which branch of our U.S. Military is this Veteran a member of?
