A Huge 'Thank You'
I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your role during our MERT Emergency Friday. While I am always impressed with our MERT team, the quick thinking, response, and calmness with which you approached the emergency was above and beyond! Without missing a step, the AED & EpiPens were grabbed, the situation was assessed, 911 called, parents called, student profile printed, and people moved into positions or assigned roles to ensure the very best care while in our hands. Additionally, I sincerely appreciate the roles that everyone else played...moving children from the classroom within which the emergency was taking place, getting kids out of the halls, closing the curtain in the gym, and pitching in with students where needed. I talked with the parents Friday night and they were so appreciative of the care that our staff showed and that they didn't think that type of response would happen outside Davison. I simply said and very sincerely meant, "We all just did what we would hope someone would do for our child." They also said I could share that the child was home and already feeling 100% better. Again, thank you!
Tuesday, 'D' Decorate a Shirt Day & Walk-a-thon/Color Run Fundraiser Kick-off
Tuesday is the day that the students will decorate their PTO purchased t-shirts for our Walk-a-Thon & Color Run to be held on June 1st. This weekend I purchased a class set of Sharpie Markers for each PLC. I will leave it up to your PLC to determine the rotation of the markers for the day. Please just be sure that they are returned to the office at the end of the day. PTO will be dropping off the t-shirts Monday. After they are decorated Tuesday, you will need to store them until June 1st...DO NOT SEND THE T-SHIRTS HOME WITH THE STUDENTS UNTIL JUNE 1ST. You may want to write or have each write his/her name on their t-shirt to make them easier to pass back out on June 1st.
Tuesday, will also kick-off the fundraising part of the Walk-a-thon & Color Run. A flyer and envelope will go home with each student highlighting the 'pay it forward' theme and the goal of purchasing additional document cameras for the classrooms. Money will be due on Tuesday, May 31st. If you could also share information in your next two newsletters it would be greatly appreciated. While PTO will need volunteers, parents will also be able to come and watch if they'd like. Parents will not, however, be able to participate in the Walk-a-thon & Color Run. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Cardinal Code Focus for the Week: Dismissal
This week, please intentionally review procedures for dismissal. The students are becoming a little more chatty as they leave the building and therefore not always paying attention to what is going on in front of them. I appreciate all the review that you have and continue to do regarding behavior as I truly believe it has made a huge difference.

Quotes Worth Reading...
"In the end, she became more than what she expected. She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going."
-R.M. Drake
Education is a journey, we may not always stay on the path we thought we were headed down, the students may force us to change direction, but we keep going.
