Updates/Reminders:
Lockdown Drill - We will have our first Lockdown Drill on Friday morning as soon as law enforcement is on campus. Please do not announce the time to your students. However, it would be really beneficial to practice this drill with your class before Friday. Remember, this drill and all other drills are discussed in the NCE Staff Handbook.
Positive Behavior Office Referral - Please consider raising the praise and celebrating the great things students are doing daily by completing a Positive Office Referral!
NCE Walkthrough Plan - Please read through this brief document regarding our plan for walkthroughs. We will begin formal observations and walkthroughs this week using the walkthrough form shared with you at the staff meeting on 9/11. We will have an ASIS walkthrough during October.
"I Can" statements - 59% of our classrooms had "I can" statements posted on Friday! Please work to help students understand the purpose of your lessons by posting your I can statements daily.
Duty - Please be on time for all duties. If you are running late or absent for the day, please ask a friend to step in for you. Car rider is too busy of a time for us to be short-handed! If you are unable to find someone to cover for you, please reach out to Carla/Eddie.
Subs - If you have a sub, please have them eat lunch with your class. This should be included in your plans each time you are out.
Coach's Corner
- mClass -- Mr. Poston spoke with me Wednesday and commended NCE for having all our Dibels and most of our TRCs already done--he was very impressed with how quickly you all had worked. Way to go Jaguars! If anyone is still working on TRCs, please note that the state has extended the mClass window until Monday, October 8th. Hopefully you are finished and can put this date completely out of your mind!
- Clever Portal Access -- Starting this week, the Clever Portal will be accessible to teachers via your computer's dock. If you shut down and restart your computer, the Clever Portal icon will appear on your computer's dock and you will no longer need to go through the staff page to log into Clever or access iReady.
- Clever Badges -- Remember that Clever is linked with PowerSchool. The student badges are created automatically via a nightly script upload from PowerSchool to Clever. You can login to the Clever Portal and download the badges if you still need them or if you have a new student needing one.
- IXL and other apps on Clever -- Something to keep in mind...If an application on Clever is listed under the heading "Additional Digital Learning Resources", they are simply links and NOT integrated with clever. These applications, like IXL, do not "roster" with Clever. In other words, they cannot be accessed via the Clever single sign on ability. Even if students are on Clever, they will still need to sign into IXL, or the other applications, as usual.
Training Camp:
- Epic Books -- This is a wonderful, FREE, website for educators! There are over 25,000 ebooks and quizzes, and over 400 National Geographic books and videos available for K-5 students to read! I know we have Myon, but Epic tends to have a little more high interest books and series. It is already an application in Clever for students to access if you have an Epic teacher account. If you click the link above, you can sign up for your free class account. Epic offers classroom reading challenges and you can share Epic with families. Let's ignite a love for reading with all our kids!
