GL Rocks Fundraiser
GLHS students collected small rocks and then painted inspirational quotes, words or drawings on the rocks and they were displayed through out our campus. Students who made a donation greater then $5.00 were eligible for a prize. GLHS faculty members, Counselor Marissa Gold, Nurse Jean Ringwood and English teacher Staci Toporek organized the event.

137 Colleges attend 2nd Annual GLHS College Fair
We have also been focusing on individual admission visits by admission counselors. 64 admission reps came to Governor Livingston High School. Ms. Deva and Ms. Gold received a PTO grant to give out folders and pens imprinted with GL logos to all admission representatives.
9 students received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and 4 students were semi-finalists moving on to the next round of the prestigious scholarship program.
Lead & Seed Leadership Program continues into our 2nd Year
The leadership program has provided programs like "Sticker Shock", "Class Karaoke Competition" and designed slogans for giveaways for students at GLHS, Columbia Middle School and the Deerfield School. Last year the giveaways were frisbees and bracelets; the slogan was "No Alcohol for me, I'm Drug and Alcohol Free".
Dr. Kimberly Borin presents 3 "Mindfulness" Programs
Mrs. Michelle Morin who received two grants cover the costs for these trainings.
Junior Conferences to begin on December 1, 2017
Junior conferences will follow so that the students and their families can meet individually with their school counselor starting December 1, 2017. Meetings are one class period during the school day. Please reach out to your student's school counselor by email to schedule an appointment.
Student Ambassadors Organize Family Adoption Gift Card Drive
From November 21-December 8, 2017, the GLHS Students Ambassadors will take donations of gift cards for the Union County Famiies in Need.

Berkeley Heights Consortium Presentation
On Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 7:00 pm the Berkeley Heights Public Schools will present Tom Kersting as our Consortium Presentation. Tom will speak about "How to Reconnect Our Digitally Distracted Kids". Tom Kersting's book "Disconnected" is available @ Barnes & Noble.
The Consortium consists of the Superintendents and Student Assistant Counselors from the Berkeley Heights, Chatham, Millburn, New Providence and Summit School Districts. They meet throughout the school year, planning presentations to assist staff, parents and students. Mrs. Judith Rattner and Mr. Bob Segear represent the Berkeley Heights Public Schools.

January 4, 2018 GLHS Counselors to visit Columbia Middle and Deerfield Schools to present the 2018-2019 Program of Studies
January 16-19, 2018 Sophomore Naviance Training . Counselors will be working with sophmores during History Classes to determine possible careers that match their skills and interests.
January 22, 2018 Sophomore College & Career Night. GLHS Counselors wil present to students and parents on what they should be doing in life after high school
January 25-26, 2018 Counselors Present Electives during PE Classes, on the programs of studing on course selection for 2018
February 5-7, 2018 GLHS Counselors will be @ Columbia Middle School to schedule 8th graders for the 2018-2019 school year.
February 12 & 13, 2018 GLHS Counselors will be @ Deerfield School to schedule 8th graders for the 2018-2019 school year.
February 26-March 16, 2018 GLHS Counselors Course Selection will all 9th, 10th & 11th graders.
Dr. Kimberly Borin Presents Mindfulness to Parents
Dr Borin will share smart strageties for relaxation and how that leads to grit and to resilience. She will also talk about destressing around the Holiday's and to make the most of Winter Break.
Great News from Mrs. Talbot and Mrs. Quigley
At the end of December, Guidance Counselor Mrs. Quigley will be out on maternity leave
