CEF Awards $112,000 at 10 Campuses
Generous corporate sponsors enabled the foundation to award $112,000 for all qualifying grants submitted by CISD educators. 75 “big checks” were given by sponsors and CEF board members at CISD schools ranging from DNA fingerprinting systems at the high school, coding software at a middle school and flexible seating in K-6 classrooms. See the full list of grants and sponsors that made it possible here. The foundation counts on your support to continue impacting your campus and funding district initiatives not covered in their current budget due to Section 41 Recapture (Robinhood). Christmas is for Children Angels
The Christmas is for Children Angels will be available for adoption beginning on Monday, November 6th at the following locations:
CHS – Guidance office
CSHS - Library
The goal of Christmas is for Children Angel adoption is to fulfill each child's Christmas wish list with something that they want, something that they need and something educational. Students and their families can "sponsor" a child by shopping for items specified on the wish lists and delivering unwrapped and untagged gifts to the school on the morning of December 4th. Gifts should be returned to the campus from which the Angel came.
Unlike in previous years, the gifts should NOT be wrapped. Instead, we are asking that a roll of wrapping paper, tape and gift tags be included with the gifts. Students can earn success scholar community service hours or hours for NHS or Mu Alpha Theta for their participation with this worthy cause. Please contact your school sponsors for information on these hours.
Donations Please
Carroll High School's Nurse Cooley would appreciate donations of new contact lens cases, and new or gently used athletic shorts and sweatpants.
You can drop these items off at the CHS front desk. Thank you so much for all you do!

Parents, please share this information with your high school students, and encourage them to join the Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High libraries in our Reading Challenge!
The challenge takes place in 2 parts:
PART ONE - Until Friday, December 15th, play Book Bingo. Get a card from the library, read books in the categories on your card and submit information on the books you’ve read through the Google form which you can get by scanning the QR code on the left. Turn your completed card into the library (standard bingo – horizontal, vertical or diagonal) and be entered in a drawing for a Barnes and Noble gift card (3 cards per campus.) You can submit as many completed Bingo cards as you want.
PART TWO - Through March 9th, keep reading and submitting information through the Google form on the books you’ve read. We will award prizes to the top three readers on each campus who read the most books.
Happy reading!

Once you get your score report, visit https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/home to learn more about what these scores mean. Your score report will also include the NMSC Selection Index score, which NMSC uses as an initial screen of entrants to its National Merit Scholarship Program. For further information about the Selection Index score, see the National Merit Scholarship Program at www.nationalmerit.org. The score report will show the correct answers, the answers you gave, and the difficulty level of each question.
Nurses Note
As a reminder, students are not allowed to carry medications (over-the-counter or prescription). You may keep medications in the nurse's office for daily or as needed administration. Please be sure medicine is in original container, not expired, and has a signed Medication Administration Request or MAR. Prescriptions also require a doctor signature. Below is a link to access the MAR form. Inhalers, epipens, and diabetic supplies are the only exceptions to the carry policy, but the student does have to turn in the MAR and documentation from the doctor saying it is OK to carry. It is best if these medications are labeled, too. Also, the nurse is unable to dispense medicine, even Advil or Tylenol, unless it the student's own medicine brought in specifically for them. Here is the link for health services-
https://www.southlakecarroll.edu/Domain/48
If you click on Medication and Health Forms, it has care plans for students with asthma, allergies, or seizures. Soon, I will begin screening for hearing and vision for students new to Carroll High School from schools outside of Texas. Melody Cooley, RN CHS Nurse 817-949-5610 phone 817-949-5656 fax

Please note that your student may not leave the building to collect items from your vehicle, these must be brought into the building and dropped off.
After School Activity Passes
We offer AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PASSES (at no charge) for students who, after their last class of the day, need to be transported to the other high school for a school sponsored sport or activity. This pass may be obtained by picking-up an application from the CSHS or CHS office. Once completed, it must be signed by the coach or sponsor of the activity or sport and returned to the office. All students must then sign the bus rider contract. Passes will be available for students to pick-up at the office within three (3) school days. Students must present their pass to the bus driver each time they need to ride or will not be allowed to ride. This pass is not necessary if the student has a valid annual or semester bus pass. Please note that misuse of the pass will require immediate forfeiture of the pass and it must be used for transportation to school activities only.
2017-2018 Bus Passes
Bus passes are available for purchase online or at the CISD Administration Center. Individual bus passes are $275/annual or $148/semester, and family bus passes are $550/annual and $296/semester. Attendance
Arrival
9th & 10th Grade students must enter classrooms by 8:00 am when classes start. All students must sign in at the attendance office if they arrive at 8:01 am or after.
Departure
9th Grade students. Parent/guardians of 9th graders must physically sign their student out at the attendance office for early dismissal. If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up a student, that person must be listed on the family's emergency contact list located in Family Access. Parents/guardians must contact the attendance office if a person - not on their emergency contact list - is picking up their child. The office is required to make a copy of that person's driver's license in order for the student to be released and that person needs to sign the student out.
10th Grade. As we know, many of our 10th graders drive, therefore they are permitted to sign-out with the attendance office for an early dismissal provided parents/guardians have notified the attendance office in writing. The note from parents requesting an early dismissal must be dated/signed and dropped off at the attendance office first thing in the morning. We will then provide the student with a pass to return to the attendance office at the early dismissal time to sign-out and exit the campus. If your 10th grader is returning that day, please ensure they sign in at the attendance office upon return so their attendance record will be noted properly.
FYI, For our students’ safety, it is important that they sign in when arriving late or sign out when leaving early. Students who do not comply with this safety measure will be referred to the Assistant Principal’s office per the CHS Handbook.
