Iranian hostage crisis
Iranian hostage crisis
On November 4, 1979 more than 60 american where held hostage. Immediate cause of this was due to Jimmy Caters decision to allow Iranians deposed shah. The 52 hostage were held captive for about 444 days.
Hostages would be released only when the shah came back to Iran to stand trail for crimes committed against the Iranian people.A botched rescue attempted in 1980 only reinforced these views and carter was not reelected in the 1980.The hostage were released on January 20,1981.
