The “All Schools Movie and Back to School Bash” is happening on Friday, September 18th at two locations: the Coronado High School Football field, and Silver Strand Elementary. The film? None other than Steven Spielberg’s 1982 blockbuster, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Gates at both locations open at 6:30pm, and the film starts at 7:30pm.

Coronado Historical Association- "The Time of Covid" Exhibit Update
This past spring, some of our many talented Village artists submitted their Visual or Performing Art to the Coronado Historical Association for an exhibition with the theme "The Time of Covid". While CHA is still closed, they have been working hard to plan for an exhibit, with continuing hope that there may be an in-person exhibition. They are also working out how to safely implement the 25% capacity rule. CHA will be sure to share with us an opening date when we have one, and instructions on how students and their families can come to enjoy the exhibit. We can't wait to showcase our amazing VAPA students!

VAPA Artists are BACK!
VAPA started with Visual Art and the students of Village Elementary. I am so proud of their creativity and imagination. Thank you to all the parents who have the time to help our youngest artists. In the lower grades we created Heart Maps. These maps showed things that are special to us, people, places and things. In 4th and 5th grade the students designed flags that represented their own unique selves. Things such as special talents, interests in cultures, ideas from country of origin or even quotes or words that represent their mindset. I can't wait to work with all the students as we travel virtually around the world exploring dance music, theater and visual art with our new Passport to the Arts program - first stop HAWAII!
I Lab with Mrs. Trinidad is in full swing! Join in the Fun!

CUSD MEAL DISTRIBUTION UPDATE
GRAB AND GO MEAL SERVICE:
FREE MEALS FOR ALL
CONTINUES DURING DISTANCE LEARNING!!
Where: Village Elementary and Silver Strand Elementary
When: Tuesday, September 8th
Location: Multi-Purpose Rooms at VES (H Street) and Silver Strand Elementary
Distribution Time: 4:00PM-6:00PM (while supplies last)
Meal distribution will continue every Monday (except on holidays) while students are in a distance learning environment. The USDA has now approved universal feeding for all children between the ages of 1-18 years through December 31, 2020. They have recognized the need for this around the country and have decided to move forward with it. All children will get free meals regardless of meal status (free/reduced/paid). Children are also not required to be students of Coronado Unified School District.
Our next distribution day is tomorrow beginning at 4PM. All families with children 18 and under will be able to pick up free breakfast and lunch meals via curb-side pick-up. Each child will receive one bag that contains 5 days’ worth of meals for breakfast and lunch. Meals may consist of packaged, refrigerated, and/or frozen items (heating instructions will be provided). District and school staff will start "Grab and Go Distribution" of meal bags at 4PM, and will stop once all bags are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
All meals will be distributed curb-side to decrease the risk of exposure. Only those in cars will be served meals during this pick-up window. If you are unable to pick-up meals by car or during the scheduled distribution time, please email charity.campbell@coronadousd.net on or before Monday at 2 pm and we will schedule an alternative window to pick-up a meal.
Meals may not be distributed to students. Students who are receiving meals are encouraged to be physically present at the time of pick-up. Additionally, adults may pick up meals for students not present by printing and submitting the meal pick-up form at the time of pick-up each week. No meals will be distributed to parents/guardians without a child present or a form submitted at time of pick up due to state regulations.
For more information or for a meal pick-up form, please email:
