September... The most wonderful time of the year!!!
It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids storytelling
for each one telling you, it's good to be here
It's the most wonderful time of the year
With those morning greetings and circle time seatings
When friends come to call
With the hug-huggiest squeezies by all
Who said December is the most wonderful time of the year?? It's September!
September is always a time of excitement, yet with that comes anxiety and nervousness for many children (and parents). We will continue to do our best to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible and to ensure that each child feels loved, respected and safe.
Respect and courtesy in our Montessori school is the foundation for everything we do and each child will learn/practice the following important skills:
- how to put their work away where they found it
- how to tidy up after themselves
- the importance of helping a friend in need
- the importance of respecting the materials, the teachers and each other
- how to tuck in their chair when they leave the table (making a safe chair)
- how to walk in the classroom
- how to be self directed and find their own ‘work’ and most importantly,
- how to be independent!
Circle Time
Español with Señora Londoño
Yo me lavo las manos,
yo me lavo las manos,
con jabón
y un poquito de agua.
(REPEAT)
I wash my hands,
I wash my hands,
with soap
and a little water.
(REPEAT)
The idea is that by washing the whole time they sing, they wash their hands thoroughly. They also learn Spanish vocabulary and Spanish grammar. Children wash their hands many times a day, so there is ample opportunity for repetition!

Creating Calm Tip #6: If there is no choice, don't offer one.
If there is no choice, don't offer one. Don't ask a yes/no question if you won't accept "No!" as an answer.
Instead of asking, "Do you need to go to the bathroom?" "say, "Let's use the bathroom before we go. I'll wait for you."
Think ahead
Instead of "Are you ready to go?" OR "Let's go home, okay?" inform, "It's almost time to go"
DON'T TAG AN OKAY AT THE END!
Peace Corner: Peace ~ A Feeling You Have in Your Heart
We introduced the concept of peace to the children as "a feeling you have in your heart."
We will continue to provide practices and experiences in the classroom that promote peace.
Montessori Quote
"The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of Responsibility and the wings of Independence."
This is the quote that inspired our logo!
The 'roots of Responsibility' symbolize children building confidence, creating peace and building a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning. Butterflies emerge from their chrysalis with 'wings of Independence', just like our children develop into independent thinkers.
They join us as "caterpillars" and emerge as "butterflies"... confident and independent ambassadors of peace.
