The Gift of Giving
First graders shared kindness and compassion while working with Mountain Opportunities Center. Students completed a service learning project where they collected money for clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. With donations collected, first graders were able to present gifts to clients where Santa made a surprise visit!
Holidays Around the World
Second graders broadened their horizons with studying holiday traditions and customs around the globe. Detailed lessons allowed students to learn geography, flags, food, language, music, and other facts about different countries. Highlights from Italy were learning about La Befana, the Eiffel Tower from France, making Poinsettias from Mexico, and singing carols from Germany.
Santa Shop was a Success
Santa Shop is an opportunity for students to purchase gifts for family members and friends. With the help from teachers and volunteers, students learn valuable lessons on how to budget, select appropriate gifts, make purchases, and handle money. Purchases are even packaged for easy delivery. Santa Shop is so much fun students don't even realize they are learning!
