OLM SPANISH CLUB
Weekly Reflection: Give Us Strength
Dear Lord, like the second criminal nailed to the cross beside Jesus, give us the strength to embrace your love, to surrender our control, and face the suffering that might come our way.
Peacemakers of the Month: February 2016 - KINDNESS
Our Peacemakers of the month help us to maintain and strengthen our OLM community. During the month of February, students were asked to look to Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Heart and learn that kindness is a gift of the Holy Spirit where one learns the quality of understanding and sympathy for those in need. It is shown in friendliness of speech, generosity of conduct, and forgiveness.
The following students have been chosen Peacemakers of the month of February 2016. We offer them a big OLM CONGRATS!
Kindergarten: Alicia Torres, Emma Harbison, Emily Buckius
1st Grade: Colin Donegan, Ella Braccia, Erin Rietzke
2nd Grade: Emilia Coleman, Carly Lewinski
3rd Grade: Marco Carr, Emerson Selgrath
4th Grade: Angela Lafond, Josey Liebsch, Haley Lewinski
5th Grade: Lauren Bauer, Ciara Peyton
6th Grade: Kathleen Tallon, David Saban
7th Grade: Collin DeMaioribus, AJ Citro, Adam Spera
8th Grade: Mark Horvath, Charlotte Roper
Virtue of the Month: PATIENCE
Our virtue of the month of March is PATIENCE. Students will learn that patience enables each of us to endure disappointments without sadness, to bear difficulties without complaint, and to accept hardships with spiritual joys. Saint Dominic Savio will be our model. Students will be recognized at the School Liturgy on Friday, April 1st.
Dear Saint Dominic, you spent your short life totally for love of Jesus and His Mother. Help youth today to realize the importance of God in their lives. You became a saint through fervent participation in the sacraments, enlighten parents and children to the importance of frequent confession and Holy Communion. At a young age you meditated on the sorrowful Passion of Our Lord. Obtain for us the grace of a fervent desire to suffer for love of Him.
We desperately need your intercession to protect today's children from the snares of the world. Watch over them and lead them on the narrow road to Heaven. Ask God to give us the grace to sanctify our daily duties by performing them perfectly out of love for Him. Remind us of the necessity of practicing virtue especially in times of trial.
Saint Dominic Savio, you who preserved your Baptismal innocence of heart, pray for us.

Coin-A-Day Challenge over $1944.00 raised
Our coin-a-day challenge was a wonderful success. Over $1.944 was raised for the Drueding Center and Face-to-Face. Mrs. Marano's third grade class collected the most in coins!
Donations will purchase books for the Drueding Center, a comprehensive program for homeless women and children, founded by the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer, which offers child care and after care and Face to Face, a not-for- profit human services organization, which provides after care, summer camp and back to school readiness programs for children in Germantown.
In addition, a former student of OLM has requested assistance in collecting gently used or new books for a service project at St. Joseph’s Prep.

Two parent volunteers must be on-duty in the school yard - before the playground is open. This ensures the safety of ALL. Our active volunteer program not only provides valuable hands-on assistance through the school, but also benefits the children by reinforcing ties between the children’s individual homes as well as the community at large, and the school. The Lunch/Recess Duty Volunteer program is a great way to volunteer and become involved at the school.
