Fall is here! Hopefully everyone is having a wonderful year so far. Thank you to those that attended our New Book Preview. Web 2.0 Tool Review: HSTRY

HSTRY is a free interactive timeline tool for the classroom. It allows you to add text, graphics, videos, and sound clips to create an exciting and engaging timeline. The free version allows you to add your classes so you can share timelines that you or your students have created. No email addresses are required for students. A free app is available through the Chrome Store and works on Chromebooks, iPads and android devices.

Brainfuse HelpNow through Live-brary

Brainfuse HelpNow is a free service for students through public libraries of Suffolk County.

Brainfuse offers the following:

  • Homework Help: Interact with live tutors in math, science, reading/writing, social studies, PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP and state standardized tests.
  • Skills-Building: Brush up or catch up on a subject or skill with a live tutor
  • 24-Hour Writing Lab: Create a Brainfuse account and submit essays and other forms of writing for constructive feedback within one business day.
  • 24/7 Homework Question Center: Create a Brainfuse account and submit homework questions to be answered within one business day. If you have a question that can be answered by your local library (questions about library hours, your account, library programs, etc) please contact your library directly.
  • Adult Learning Center: Access a library of rich adult learning content (GED) and live, professional assistance in resume/cover letter writing, U.S. citizenship prep, MS Office Essential Skills Series, and more!
  • Foreign Language Center /Spanish-Speaking Support: Live help for your Spanish homework.

**Students can chat with a live tutor from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.**

Database Spotlight: ProQuest Career and Technical Education

Located in the Virtual Reference Collection, ProQuest Career and Technical Education is a comprehensive database that covers careers and vocation, trade and industry, job search, and technical topics. It can be used to research many technical topics, including: computing science, healthcare, building trades, auto mechanics, sales and retail, accounting, graphic design, and photography. Includes over 700 periodicals and books in full-text.
