Mrs. Shepard's Music
Kindergarten, First Grade, and Third Grade
May 14-31, 2018
Dear Monroe Families,
We are having a great time in music class! We will be spending the next couple of weeks having musical fun and reviewing key concepts and skills from this year. Our music curriculum, Quavermusic.com, hosts an annual digital field trip to kick off their summer music contest. I have attached information about the digital field trip and contest.
For this summer’s contest, Quaver is challenging students to get creative with a song they may already know in a new, exciting style! Here’s what you need to know: Students are invited to rewrite the lyrics to the classic folk song, “The More We Get Together.” A worksheet is provided to help guide the process. The winner of the summer challenge contest wins a school visit from Quaver!

Kindergarten
Please join us at Good Morning Monroe on Friday for Kindergarten's promotion showcase. These kiddos have been working hard to learn two songs and a poem for this performance. They are so excited to show you all they have learned. For many kindergartners, this is the first time they will get up and do anything in front of an audience. Being nervous is totally normal. Please encourage your student to take deep breaths and do their best. If they make a mistake, it's OKAY! All will be well! I am so proud of these children and can't wait for you to see them in action.
First and Third
First and Third-grade students are reviewing all of the major concepts we have learned this year. We will spend our last few days together reflecting on our year and playing some of our favorite games. My goal for the kids this week is to have a positive experience going into summer so that they are excited to start again in August.
