Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for May! The LAST CARES celebration of the year was held this morning!

These recipients had cinnamon rolls & juice with Mrs. Molitor during morning meeting.

We have a 3 hour early release on Thursday, June 7th, our last day. A bag lunch will be served to students on that day. All students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm. Please make plans accordingly. We request that all students follow their normal routine home as usual on this busy day. This will help to insure that children get home safely.

Glendale Goodbyes

Each year the ending of the school year brings staff transitions as enrollment needs change within our district.

We want to thank our staff members who were at Glendale for this school year. We appreciate all of their dedication to students at Glendale. We wish them the best next year and are so thankful we were able to work with these great educators.

1st grade teacher, Kim Waldron, is taking next year off to enjoy time at home with her new baby when he or she arrives this summer!

Jill Lacher, Special Ed Teacher, & Nicole Streif, Speech Teacher, will both be taking on new titles as Special Education Team Leaders beginning next year. They will be working throughout the district, so we hope Glendale is a regular stop for them!

Renee Boger, in child nutrition, is retiring after 16 years of food services with us. Our music teacher, Becky Gillette, will also be retiring after 23 years of service with PLSAS. Congratulations to all 5 of them! They will each be greatly missed & we wish them the best of luck on their new journeys.

Notes from Media

Just a friendly reminder to please look for any class/library books that may be missing and return to the media center before the last day of school!!

2018-19 Open House for Grades 1-5

Our 2018-19 Open House for grades 1-5 will be held on Wednesday, August 29th

from 3:30-5:30PM. Mark your calendars for "Back to School Night." This is an exciting

day to meet your teacher and see the classroom! Kindergarten orientation will be on

September 5th and a time will be scheduled for each kindergarten student and family to attend.

PLSAS elementary schools will again hold "Great Start to Kindergarten." Three days in

August were set aside for incoming Kindergarten students to come in prior to the school

year to be assessed. This gave the teachers an excellent indication where those students

were academically, so that curriculum planning could begin on day one. This year practice will continue and the dates for our Kindergarten assessments will be August 6th-9th.

We will also be following the same practice for our 1st through 5th grade students for the upcoming school year. On September 4th & 5th, 1st- 5th grade students will be scheduled for an assessment time with their teacher. You will receive information in the back to school mailing the week of August 20th.

Seesaw replacing Schoology

We are pleased to announce that Seesaw will replace Schoology at the elementary level only beginning July 1, 2018. To date, more than 90% of PLSAS elementary teachers are currently using this digital portfolio to record and share what's happening in the classroom. Seesaw has also been widely embraced by elementary parents as a way for them to see their child's day-to-day work and academic progress. Thank you to teachers for successfully implementing this innovative classroom tool!

Schoology will continue to be used at the secondary level as it remains an effective Learning Management System for grades 6-12 where students and parents have access to classroom assignments, study guides, calendars & more.

Looking Ahead to 2018-19
