Miss Cleasby's 4K News

News for the week of December 17th

Holidays/Giving Theme

This week we will continue our "Holidays/Giving" Theme! Our "Gingerbread Exchange" packages are still arriving daily! We have a few left to open to complete our maps this week. Students will take home a gift they created this Friday that they can give to someone at home. Also, this Friday we will be having a holiday party. We will make a holiday craft, play holiday games, and sing songs!

Play Dough

In 4K, most days we have a play dough play time center. Play dough is fun for kids and is also a great activity to help strengthen their fine motor skills. Below is a link to an article with some great ideas you can use at home for play dough fine motor activities. I also would like to share my favorite play dough recipe. The link to the recipe I use for 4K class play dough is below underneath the fine motor article link.

Jolly Phonics

The Jolly Phonics letter of the week is "M". The action for the letter "M" sound is to rub your tummy, seeing tasty food and say mmmmmm. This week you will find a memory sound game in your child's folder in a sandwich bag. This is a review game of the first 6 letters and sounds we have learned with Jolly Phonics. If possible play the memory game with your child by facing all the cards down on a table. Then have your child choose two cards to flip over. Discuss with your child what letter and sound each is and if they were a match. This is a great way to review letter sounds we have learned with your child.

Santa's Secret Shop

Both of Miss Cleasby's 4K classes will be going to Santa's Secret Shop this Tuesday, December 18th. A flyer was sent home last week if you are interested. This is an entirely optional event. The morning class will go to Santa's Secret Shop on Tuesday from 9:15-9:45am. The afternoon class will get on a bus and go up to the elementary school to attend Santa's Secret Shop from 12:30-1:00pm. If you are interested in having your child buy items at this event please send back the order form and money clearly marked with the amount of money a child has to spend on each specific person and some suggested items for that person. Please send back order forms and money by Tuesday.

Star of the Week A.M.

Great job as "Star of the Week" Cameron W.! On Thursday, he had his mom visit and bring their dog to show the class! This week, Cameron's mom is going to visit again to read us some of Cameron's favorite books. Pictures to follow in future newsletters. Our next morning class "Star of the Week" will be Taylor on January 14-18.

Super job as "Star of the Week" Landyn! Great job showing your different show and tell items. Thanks for having your mom visit and show our class your dog Snowy. Our next afternoon class "Star of the Week" will not be until February. Riley will be our next P.M. Class "Star of the Week" on Feb. 4-8.
