El Verano Weekly
Week of April 8-12, 2024
Dear El Verano Team,
Spring is here, and while we wait for the weather to catch up, there are tons of fun events and things coming up. It's a busy but really special time of the year. This week, 5th graders and their teachers will go on an overnight field trip to Sugarloaf with the Sonoma Ecology Center. Dave, Brandy, and Morgan have been working hard to make sure it's a successful experience for the kids--thank you!
Here's what's new and coming up this week at El Verano:
Certificated Staff Meeting
On Monday at 3:05 there is a Certificated Staff meeting in Room 43 (Alita's room).
KAM Site Visit
On Tuesday Kristina Arcuri will be with us for demo lessons, training, planning, modeling. Please reach out to Megan if you would like to meet with Kristina.
Aspirante Youth Orchestra Assembly
There is an assembly from 1:00-1:40 on Tuesday.
Family Science Night
On Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 we have Family Science Night! Thank you to Chelsea and Victoria for putting it together!
Talent Show Sign up Forms
Talent Show forms are due on Monday. There's some wiggle room on the date--if students bring it on Wednesday and are ready for auditions, they can still participate.
CAASPP Testing
CAASPP season is nearly upon us. EV will be taking CAASPP in grades 3-5 from Tuesday, April 30-May 10th, with make ups and 5th grade Science testing on May 14-15. Test prep will begin in those grades starting Monday, April 8th, twice a week so that our students are prepared to do their best on the test.
Trustee Kelly Office Hours
Trustee Kelly will hold Office Hours in 20.2 on Thursday from 1:30-2:20.
Restorative Practices Training
Restorative Practice Training Interest Form- Our district Wellness Team will be offering up to two paid trainings in Restorative Practices and we want your input. These trainings are available to any interested classified or certificated staff. Please fill out the attached survey if you are interested in participating in either of the upcoming trainings tentatively scheduled for June 4th/5th and August 1st/2nd. This form will remain open through April 15th. After the survey closes, we will finalize the training schedule and reach out to anyone who expressed interest.
PBIS Focus of the Week
Our PBIS focus for this week is Being Respectful to Campus Supervisors. Areas of emphasis might include listening and following the directions of campus supervisors, saying 'good morning' and 'thank you', and in general showing appreciation and respect when interacting with them. Teachers can tailor their message to their students, and it can be a topic of discussion at Morning Meeting.
Please help us by giving students green slips when you see their attention and success in this area--consistency in our messaging makes a big difference.
PBIS Assembly
This Wednesday at our assembly we are recognizing students in 2nd and 3rd grades.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Thanks,
Katie
