SECOND GRADE SEND-OFF
We will miss our second-grade Hawks! Join us on the last day of school to bid them farewell. Second-grade students will be parading in front of the school along Linneman at approximately 3:15, so make sure you are out there 5-10 minutes before.
A BIG THANK YOU to our fabulous HE/HO PTA for providing t-shirts for our 2nd graders!
Lost & Found **LAST CALL**
The deadline to look for your child's lost items is Wednesday, June 7. You can check the HE/HO PTA for pictures here:
After June 7, we will be donating all items.
In case you missed it ... AC at Henking
On March 17, 2020, the Glenview community approved a referendum for $119 million to allow District 34 to repair, replace and update our buildings. As you know, Henking has a new wing and this summer will undergo a substantial renovation thanks to that community support.
A part of this renovation is the installation of a brand-new cooling system. There have been significant delays from ComEd in delivering the transformer to help run the electricity and the cooling system; we had hoped to have that transformer installed last year. However, ComEd has assured us that it will be delivered and installed this summer. However, at this time, Henking does not have air conditioning.
The weather forecast for next week predicts warmer temperatures. If that forecast holds, we can expect to experience cooler temperatures in the morning and warmer temperatures in the afternoon. Please dress your children in layers so they can be comfortable throughout the day.
The District is providing box fans for each classroom. Teachers will increase water breaks to ensure students stay hydrated and will keep windows open to increase airflow wherever possible. In addition, our gym and multipurpose room, and other areas have air conditioning, so we can schedule visits to those areas in the event it gets very warm in classrooms.
We appreciate your understanding as we work through this final phase of renovation to Henking, and look forward to welcoming our staff, students, and families to the new and much improved Henking in August!
