Rancho December Champions!
Mrs. Greta Burnikel - 2nd Grade Teacher
Greta is one of the most patient and even keeled teachers I’ve ever known. She has a peace about her that shows wisdom and strength. It’s been a great joy to work with her.
She's a champion for her team and a calm voice of reason. She is always willing to lend a hand!
She does a wonderful job in keeping composure when a difficult student is acting out in her class. She is very loving and compassionate.
Greta champions for our students as well as our staff. Their success is her success. I love her respect for her students - it shows everyday!
Greta has totally stepped up during the challenges of Covid! She has taken on extra responsibilities above and beyond to support the team! She is a vital part of our team and we could not do this without her.
Amazing Lone Ranger, supportive!
Mrs. Jennifer Carpenter - Nurse
Wow! She is an amazing lady! I don't know how she deals with all this COVID stuff!
She has done a great job taking on the challenging job of being a school nurse this year. She is always so kind and willing to help with whatever she can!
Jennifer always assists others with a smile and helps whenever she can. Her job is an endless loop of service to others.
Nurse Carpenter is always going above and beyond to keep our school safe and healthy. She is a key figure in keeping our school running this year. No idea how she does it! And she never seems frazzled!
She is definitely our essential worker, she works hard every day trying to keep us all safe.
No words are needed to explain why this lady is our champion EVERY month this year!
Jennifer should not only be champion of the month but should be given the title of MVP of the year! I'm not sure how she does it but she carries it all with grace and a smile on her face. She has a heart of gold and truly cares for every staff and student on this campus and Rancho is beyond blessed to have her here!! I don't think Jennifer will ever know how truly grateful we are for her at school, and I hope she knows that we see her dedication and sacrifice and it doesn't go unnoticed!!!

New LHISD Guidelines for In-Person and Remote Learners
Nov 17, 2020 NEW recommendations for remote learners: Effective Nov 30, 2020
These updates have been made both on the In-Person and Remote Learning pages.
Students make a choice of the remote or in-person beginning of six weeks.
If the student elects remote, they will stay remote until the end of the six weeks.
If in-person students elect to go remote at any point during the six weeks, they will stay remote until the end of the six weeks.
An exception to move back to in-person during the six weeks will only be considered if the student support team recommends it because the student is not being successful with remote learning.
If an in-person learner is sent home for quarantine by the school and not be choice, they will be allowed to return to in-person at the end of quarantine.

Parents as you begin making travel plans for the upcoming holidays keep in mind LHISD may ask students to quarantine depending on the area of travel.
At Home Screens for COVID-19
Please see the information below regarding at home COVID-19 screenings. This information is located on the LHISD Return to Learn website. Please take time each morning to pre-screen your student for symptoms and exposure to Covid-19. Please do not send students to school if they have symptoms including fever, diarrhea, cough, sore throat, etc.
- Parents/guardians are expected to screen their students for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their students to school. We need parents’ cooperation in not sending children to school who are exhibiting COVID symptoms, especially if they are running a fever. Screening should include:
- Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit
- Loss of taste or smell or cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Shortness of breath
- Headache or chills
- Sore throat
- Shaking or exaggerated shivering
- Significant muscle pain or ache
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- If you have been in “close contact” with an individual who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19. Close contact is determined by an appropriate public health agency. For clarity, close contact is defined as:
○ being directly exposed to infectious secretions (e.g., being coughed on while not wearing a mask or face shield); or
○ being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of more than 15 minutes, with/without wearing a mask or face shield; if either occurred at any time in the last 14 days at the same time the infected individual was infectious.
