Dear SHMS Families:
On Wednesday students took part in a Panther Pride lesson in preparation for SHMS Career Day. Students were given time to reflect on possible career paths and the skills needed to perform jobs of interest. Teachers also reviewed how to access Naviance, which is the college and career platform that students will use through high school. We hope students found the lesson meaningful. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the lesson.
As part of our Black History Month activities, Connections classes participated in a Black History Month door decorating contest. Classes created a theme based on their teacher’s content area. For example, if a Connections teacher is from the English Department, their design may include influential black authors such as Toni Morrison, Ralph Ellison, or James Baldwin. Members of the District Office helped serve as judges. The winning classes will receive soft pretzels. Our students and teachers did amazing work. The judging was difficult. Below are some of the winning doors.
Have a great weekend.
