What We've Been Up To
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Check out some pictures from the event below!
Artists Corner
The art classroom is a space for students to grow, experiment, and express themselves creatively.
This month, we're highlighting 2nd grade's cities project. Students just finished up learning about New York artist, James Rizzi. They used vertical and horizontal lines to create rectangles with rulers, learned about depth, facial expressions, wax resist, and movement. Lastly, we added water to our work to blend our colors and see our wax resist!
We had a costume parade, trunk-or treating, a haunted house, fall festival dance, face painting, and other great activities! We thank every student who brought in candy, and all of the teachers and staff who made our first Fall Festival such a success!
Counselor's Corner
Dear MSE Family,
This year, Memphis School of Excellence (ES/MS) has dedicated itself to a Comprehensive Bullying Prevention Program. If we do not allow bullying behavior in our classrooms, hallways, or restrooms, then bullying will not exist in our school. This is a community-wide effort and requires every individual that enters this school to be on board. We have to make anti-bullying a part of our school culture, and consistency is key. Our students recently celebrated anti-bullying with a Bullying Prevention Poster contest; students also participated in #UnityDay2019 by wearing orange. MSE will continue to fight bullying with weekly classroom activities!
Bringing Fun into the Classroom
At MSE, we strive to make education multi-faceted. Our teachers host a variety of clubs, take students on field trips, and plan innovative activities to make learning fun.
Take a look at some of these great things below.
Recycling Club
Field Trips
Water Filter Project
Drama Club
Drama Club students competed in the Speech & Drama Tournament at Our Lady of Perpetual Helps School (OHLP) Tuesday, Oct. 29th.
Congrats to Robert (7th grade), Taleah (6th grade), and the entire drama team for placing in the competition!
Students showed this commitment through dress out days themed around drug awareness.
