Falling into place
I wanted to start off by saying it was awesome to see so many people at our Fall Festival. Thank you for coming out and hopefully having a great time with all of us, but most of all for supporting the festival. It was a huge success, and all proceeds will be used to bring in programing for our kids (like COSI), and provide for extras (like technology hardware) beyond the schools' scope. We have an amazing community, and I love being apart of it.
News to share....
Conferences! - Believe it or not we are officially into about the 8th week of school already! Parent conferences are being held on October 19th and October 23rd. All teachers have already sent out information regarding how to sign up for a time to meet. If you haven't already PLEASE contact your child's teacher for a time. This is a great time to discuss progress, strengths, and areas of focus.
Daily Pick up notes- I happened to be in a conversation with a parent about Daily pick up notes- Honestly, we've been trying to figure out a secure and reliable way to allow parents snap a pic of their note and send it to us- but believe it or not- we can't have access to a generic email account for you to send it to, and we are not allowed to share password info to any of our accounts...... - So- with a little research I've found some phone apps that allow you to "FAX from your PHONE" - I've not used them myself at this point, but if they help you out- it's worth a shot. Some are free and some do cost- It's up to you what you use- if you'd like this option. I've listed some below. I would HIGHLY recommend that you give us a holler after you do fax a pick up note to make sure we got it though. Technology is wonderful... when it works right. (Don't I KNOW IT!) :)

State Assessment 16-17-
Although we don't have anything to really compare to because the state changed how we were tested last year- We did do well as a school. A summary of our performance was emailed to all IC accounts the last week of September, and is also posted on our website. We made great gains in math, decreasing our novice, and increasing proficient and distinguished! We are very proud of our children's performance, and will continue to encourage their productive struggle so that they become independent learners! We do have areas to continue to focus on as well, such as our special needs population- particularly decreasing the novice scores. Students' individual scores will be sent to us from the state soon, and we will be immediately be sending them home with students.
Dress Policy- Just a reminder that students should not be wearing shorts after October 1st per the dress policy. They can begin wearing them again after Spring Break. The building is still pretty chilly with the air conditioning on. Please also make sure that all students are wearing footwear that secures to their feet completely. (no flip flops)
