Zaur Gurbanli

Early Life
Zaur Gurbanli was born January 12, 1987 in Baku which is located in Azerbaijan. The name of his parents is unknown but they were also from Azerbaijan. Zaurs interests were to do well in school and would be awarded with honors.
Activism Goals
Zaur was admitted in the University of Baku in the law facility and worked being a lawyer in 2008 but due to his political views he was dismissed. Zaur is an ex co-founder of the N!DA civic movement which is a movement that was founded in 2011 to achieve democratic and social changes in Azerbaijan. Zaur belonged in this group for roughly a year and then was arrested (April 1, 2013) when he protested against the non-combat deaths in the military. He was sentenced to 8 years but was released on pardoned on December 30, 2014.
Heroine
The definition of hero is ,a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Zaur can be recognized as a hero because he had the courage to protest against what was bad, and even though he knew he was at risk of disturbing the authorities he kept protesting for what is right.

Zaur was arrested and was treated not treated well and was not in good conditions while being in the detention center
