Weekly Update from Dr. B.
Dear Unity Braxton Parents, Guardians, and students,
I would like to first thank all of the parents & guardians who ensured that close to 100 students were able to attend our 1st Extended Day program on Saturday. Our students were able to retake assessments, work on assignments, and receive 1:1 and small group re-teaching opportunities. We look forward to offering more Extended Days to our amazing students in the new year. One reminder for everyone is that the purpose of these opportunities is for students to improve their grades, while also receiving small group instruction and support. For students who did not come prepared to work, the opportunity potentially could be revoked. Our focus must be on the positive support we can provide our students, and not being distracted by unproductive behaviors!
Additionally, we had our 1st school day, and we had close to 300 students attend. Everyone had a great time, and I look forward to our next dance in the new year.
Finally, at our home game on Wednesday, we saw significant improvements in behaviors. Thank you to everyone who supported our students, and our UBMS athletes. I would also like to shout out to our outstanding cheerleaders and their coach, Ms. Hanson. They did an excellent job cheering on both basketball teams. Great school spirit and cheers!
As a reminder, we are getting close to the mid-point of the second marking period, and families are encouraged to check in with their student's real-time grades through ParentVUE. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Yonan or Mrs. Ramierez, in the main office, if you need any assistance with ParentVUE.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Yours truly,
Dr. B

SCHOOL RE-OPENS - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Importance of Perfect Attendance for Academic Success
Dear Parents,
As we strive to provide the best education for your children, we want to highlight the critical link between perfect attendance and academic performance.
Did you know that at our school, only 10% of students achieve perfect attendance? This means that the majority of our students miss valuable learning opportunities, which can have a significant impact on their overall educational experience.
We encourage you to support your child’s perfect attendance by:
· Scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible.
· Prioritizing punctuality and regular attendance.
· Communicating with teachers if your child needs additional support.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss how we can support your child’s attendance and academic performance further, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Proper Care for Laptops
Dear Parents
As we get further into the school year, we are seeing an increase in laptop damage as well as missing/ lost laptops. Please remind your student about proper care of their school-issued device. (Laptops should be in bookbags when in the hallway, on the bus, or walking to and from school. Laptops should not be slammed down or thrown. Laptop chargers should not be pulled from the wall, and should be rolled up when in bookbags.)
Many students are leaving their devices at home and you may be contacted by a teacher asking you to bring the device to your student. Students who forget devices at home will not be issued loaner devices.
Lastly, students are indicating that their chargers are missing. Families will be billed for the total cost of replacing missing devices as well as the cost of replacing lost or stolen chargers.
Thank you for your continued support of your student and their academic success!
