Parting notes

As we leave for the summer, I want to share a few parting notes...actually a song full of them! The link below will allow you to listen to our students singing the Sycamore song. Over several days, Mason Hensley, our music teacher, met with students to record each classroom as they sang. In a year like this one, hearing our voices as a collective is especially sweet. Thank you to Mason and our students for their patience in making this possible. I hope you and your students will enjoy singing along:

We are cool! We are proud! Hear us say it clear and loud.

Yes, it's true. At our school, we learn there's so much we can do.

Yeah, we grow, and we share, and we give and we get and we care!

Sycamore! Oh, Sycamore. Today, as in days before-

We stand for learning and so much more.

You're a part of us, Sycamore.

Enjoy your summer! I'll look forward to seeing you again, soon.

Supporting new Sycamore families

Much like our students, distance learning has impacted our parents' ability to connect with their school-based friends. We'd like to improve upon that and make sure every family feels connected and informed as a member of our school. This fall, we hope to offer new(er) families the option of having a "buddy family," a Sycamore family who would communicate via email, phone or in person to welcome and acclimate them to the routines, activities and unique learning environment of Sycamore. If this idea is of interest to you, either as a new(er) family or as a supporting "buddy" family, please send me an email. We thank you for your help!

Need after school care next year?

Summer Programs

Here's a new community-based summer opportunity bringing art and yoga together. Many of you will recognize teacher, Jac Tardie's name from Sycamore's art lessons. This one starts right away, so reserve your spot now! Have fun!

Big picture

Next year's school t-shirt design

We have a winner! Students have voted, and we are ready to share the design. Dexter Estrada from Room 4 created this striking image. We look forward to seeing a lot of it this fall!
