A teacher or schoolteacher is a person who provides education for students. The role of teacher is often formal and ongoing, carried out at a school or other place of formal education. In many countries, a person who wishes to become a teacher must first obtain specified professional qualifications or credentials from a university or TAFE. Teachers, like other professionals, may have to continue their education after they qualify, a process known as continuing professional development. Teachers may use a lesson plan to facilitate student learning, providing a course of study which is called the curriculum.
Qualififcations and Educational requirements
There are three main pathways to qualify.A four-year undergraduate teacher education degree (e.g. Bachelor of Education).A double-degree program where you study for two degrees at the same time, with one of these being a teacher education course. Most universities offer this option over four years. (e.g. Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Teaching).An academic degree, say a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, followed by a one-year or two-year postgraduate teacher education course.
How will you pay for your education?
HECS stands for Higher Education Contribution Scheme. It is the loan which students in Australia can take out to help cover their Higher Education costs. On 1 January 2012, the Australian Government lowered the HECS discount from 20% to 10% for up-front student contribution payments of $500 or more.

Type of income received
Teachers receive a salary. A salary is a fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly or biweekly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee.
There are many different levels of teaching, however the approximate salary of a fully qualified teacher is according the the university of sydney in 2011 is $84,759
