NEWS and NOTES
Let's finish the year strong....and focusing on the positive!!! As the weather is getting warmer and our students are getting more active, we need to make sure (me included, for sure!) keep structures in place and reinforce the heck out of them for doing the right thing. Ms. Fosnow has plenty of Cardinal Cash.....let's use it all up!!!
ISTEP IS DONE!!!!! As is said when news broadcasts come back from breaking news....we will now rejoin regular programming, already in progress. This means continuing our focus on setting the purpose of lessons and gradually releasing control of the content to students. Fun activities are great.....but make sure they are aligned to the skills paced for the week.
Short observations will continue this week. I will be focusing on the posting and alignment of I CAN statements, the referencing of these statements throughout the lesson, and how you gradually release content to students. Instruction must be intentional and directly tied to the purpose of the lesson. It is not enough to keep students busy....how are engaging them in a rigorous and intentional manner?
Grades 3-6- we will have a math common assessment at the end of the week. Grades K-2- PLC's this coming week will look at our DIBELS Testing schedule as well as a writing assessment we can give our students prior to the end of the year...we will talk about when you want to administer this.
More information about the Camp Belzer trip is forthcoming.
