A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 01/29/2023

Dear Central Road Families:

It is hard to believe January is winding down and we are heading into the month of February. As the weeks go by, we see the days getting longer and longer. The extra sunlight coupled with the snow we received has been appreciated by all. As long as the temperatures are reasonable & within guidelines, students will continue to go out for recess to enjoy the fresh air. Please dress your child for the weather and snow. Thank you for taking time to read our weekly communication. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out for support and/or clarification. We look forward to welcoming back students & staff on Monday, January 30th.

Sensory Pathways at School

This year Central Road is implementing sensory/motor pathways around the school for all students to utilize during the school day. Providing students with movement opportunities throughout the day has a positive impact on learning. Getting your body moving helps to maximize sensory input to address: postural control and balance, motor planning, whole body movement skills, and visual spatial skills. Additionally, using sensory/motor pathways have cognitive and learning benefits such as addressing regulation of attention/concentration/behavior through the school day, visual sequencing skills, and working memory skills. The newest addition, the sensory wall, is one of three total pathways. The wall is geared towards our younger students, but all are welcome to use it!
