Placerita Prospector
Placerita Jr. High School - January 9, 2021
Welcome Back to 2021
Good Evening Placerita Families...
I hope you and your families are all doing well and have had as good a break as we could possibly have during this crazy time. A lot of things have happened since we were last in school. Things are changing every day and almost every moment we learn of something new or different.
I case you missed our earlier email this week, your student's schedules are available in Infinite Campus. Please check and have your students check to see if their schedule has been changed since last semester. If it has changed, the Google Classroom Codes for all classes are listed below and they will also be on the website for a short time for students to use. Teachers should have contacted their students via email to let them know their codes as well.
We are packed very tight in our different Cohorts (Both A and B) with most of them being full so schedule adjustments are very difficult at this time. Counselors have worked hard in making sure all the appropriate placements have been made. If an inappropriate change has been made please let your counselor know and they will work on that for you.
As of right now all students will be returning to online school on Monday, January 11th (See Schedule below). If you had a student in any of our Small Cohort Groups, we will be starting back on Tuesday following the Tuesday schedule below. If anything were to change we will let you know.
Please note the section below on returning books as well as the listing of the Google Classroom codes for each teacher as well.
Please note the schedule for the week in the images below. We have a very unique schedule on Monday so please take a look so your student will know.
Here's to 2021! Even though the beginning is crazy lets not let go of our future hopes as we move through the year. We will do our best to make this year better than last.
Mr. Turner

Buenas Noches Familias Placerita ...
Sr. Turner

Very Important Information about our Book Returns / Información muy importante sobre nuestras devoluciones de libros
We know that we are in a very difficult time to keep up with all our books and being able to make the time to return them. However, we have some classes that will not be able to provide the reading materials for students if we do not get all our books back so we can turn around and check them out to a different group of students. Another thing to remember is that missing textbook situations stay on your transcript all the way through High School and are one of the things that can create serious problems down the road (like High School diplomas being held or transcripts not being released... Yikes!) so please help us collect all these so we can continue to serve all students with reading materials. Thanks for your help with this. Note the information below...
1. Any student who has any of the following novels needs to return them the week of 1/11, if possible:
Stargirl
Invisible Lines
Freak the Mighty
The Color of my Words
The Giver
Peak
(The first four novels were checked out to 7th graders either in August or for 2nd quarter. The final two novels were checked out to 8th graders at the same times.)
2. Books may be returned to the front office between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM. There will be a cart up front for collections.
3. The library will be sending out overdue notices to students and parents on Tuesday 1/12. The note will show what is overdue and the replacement cost if the item has been lost.
Thank you!

Freak the Mighty
El color de mis palabras
El dador
Pico
¡Gracias!
Below is the sample from the District relating to the options for PM time from the sample they sent out
Wm. S. Hart UHSD 2020-2021 Jr. High Spring Semester Schedules / Wm.
Our staff will be working this week on some changes to our weekly schedule that will affect the PM more than the regular morning schedule. If you have heard that ALL students will be required to attend in the PM that is not what our schedule will look like so don't worry. Teachers will be able to have mandatory meetings if needed or requested but all students will not be required to attend every day. We will share more information with you next week about what the regular weekly schedule as well as the PM schedule will look like. Below is a short paragraph about Weeks 1 and 2.
Weeks 1 and 2:
The schedule for week 1 beginning January 11, 2021, is unique to allow teachers and students the opportunity to set up course codes and verify access to Zoom links and Google Classroom. The students will login to every class at the designated time to report for attendance, verify access, meet the teacher and fellow students, and to review course introduction. The schedule for week 2 beginning January 18, 2021, is unique because Monday is a Martin Luther King holiday and the schedule is shifted by one day. During the first two weeks of the semester, the teachers will collaborate with administrators after lunch to develop the school implementation plan for afternoon scheduling. Students will work independently during that time.
