Cedar Grove Friday Flash
January 22, 2021
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Last night was our first virtual Pajama Story Time. We were so happy to see many of our children attending and enjoying an evening of listening to many wonderful stories. We would like to thank our staff readers and send a special thank you to Mrs. Hirschhorn for organizing this fun night of reading!
As a reminder, our materials distribution for the third marking period will take place on Wednesday, January 27. Curbside pick-up will occur from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.; the time for your pick-up is based upon your child's last name. Please click here for the pick-up schedule, directions, and procedures. Please note that students in our ASD program do not have any items for pick-up at this time.
As you are picking up your child’s materials on January 27, this is also a great time to return your media center books. Some of the books have been in homes since March of last year, and we would like to get those back for others to enjoy. Please see the return process in the Holds to Go section below. Also, please note that Holds to Go will held on January 27 and will be extended until 6:00 p.m.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Clarksburg Community Assistance Network - Free Produce Distribution
The Clarksburg Community Assistance Network (CCAN)'s has announced their free produce distribution event to school family members on Saturday, January 30, 2021, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Greenridge Baptist Church, 21925 Frederick Road, Boyds, Maryland 20841. This is for curbside pick-up only. For more information, please click here for the flyer and contact information.
Pledge Project - Update
We have had an overwhelming number of students interested in participating in our pledge project and are already receiving videos of students signing their assignment. It is extremely important that every child who committed to this project send in their video by January 29. Every child has a part, and if that part is missing then the entire video cannot be completed. Thank you so much.
Holds to Go at Cedar Grove ES - New process, same wonderful service!
To promote a safe Holds to Go program, the media center has been using a “curbside” distribution system and we appreciate how you have been participating. Just as a reminder:
- On Wednesday, Jan 27 because of materials distribution, a table will be in front of the school for media books pickup and returns.
- Please have your child’s last name clearly printed, with the child's grade, in very large print to show to the staff member as you drive up to the table.
- Once we recognize the student's name, the staff member will place the books on the table for you or your student to pick up.
- Please place your library returns in the box marked "returns" on the table.
- If you have classroom book returns for Ms. Ward's or Mrs. Zimmerman's class, they can also be returned to that table. But please place these books in the box marked "Ms. Ward and Mrs. Zimmerman." These books should also have your child's name and the reading teacher's name on a post-it note on the cover or on a piece of paper inside the cover.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may present however, we believe that together, we can maintain a safe environment for everyone while continuing providing this service to our students. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Hirschhorn.
