Glenealy School Newsletter
10th February 2021
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Thank you for your support over this past half term. It has been a challenging start to 2021, but we are hopeful things will improve as we move past the Chinese New Year break. As we enter the Year of the Ox I wish you all great happiness and prosperity - Kung Hei Fat Choy!
Schedule for return after CNY
As a reminder we will bring in 6 classes (three year groups) each morning after CNY. The first day back on site - Monday 22nd February - will be for years 1, 5 and 6. Years 2, 3 and 4 will be ready to learn via distance learning on that Monday. You can see the full schedule below.
Return to Site - Temperature Checks, Health Declarations and Schedules
Please remember that the Travel and Health Declaration form will need to be filled in via the ESF App again before students return to site after CNY. Please could you complete this before 12 noon on Saturday 20th February 2021.
Please also ensure your child’s temperature is taken before you leave home each morning they attend school, again via the ESF App.
Following positive feedback, we have added all of the information you need for the latest iteration of our return to school, including the on site schedule above, to our ‘Return to School Site 22nd February 2021’ website.

Mid-Year Reports
You will find the Mid-Year reports ‘go live’ today for you to be able to download through Gateway.
Most of you will be very familiar with accessing reports online. As a reminder or for those of you new to Glenealy this year (who joined Glenealy prior to November 2020) to locate your child’s report on Gateway once you have logged in, click on ARR Report (the button is located under your child's photo) and choose Mid-Year Report 2020 - 2021.
Following the Mid-Year Reports we will be arranging parent conferences before the Easter Holiday and we will share details on how to book a time to meet virtually with your teachers after the break.
Important Announcement
Finally, it is with great sadness that I announce here today, that I will be leaving Glenealy School at the end of this academic year. I will be moving back to the UK to be closer to my family. I would like to extend my sincere and heartfelt thanks to the whole community for your continuous support over the past two years, and I know the school is in a very strong position to move forward next year.
Glenealy is such a welcoming, happy and successful school. Although the last two years have seen a fair number of challenges, Glenealy’s community is as strong and close as ever. I would like to particularly express my gratitude and thanks to the staff team who have worked tirelessly over the time of my tenure here to ensure that our children receive the best possible education. Our Glenealy PTA have also shown huge support for our work as a community and have proved to be an incredibly positive force for good in the school, especially in a time of great challenge. Finally, I would like to thank our fantastic, resilient and relentlessly positive children for making every day at the school such a happy and enjoyable experience!
ESF, alongside the Glenealy School Council will begin the selection process shortly to ensure a new Principal will be in place in time for the new academic year.
Once again, I want to thank our whole school community for all their support during my time at the school and I very much look forward to all we can achieve as we head into the remainder of the year.
Kind regards,
Chris
