What's News at Magee?
#1 - September 2019
Welcome to 2019-2020
All over our building, students are getting into the routines and procedures of the building. Coach Barry from Code to the Future has been here and students are rolling with coding. We welcome Ms. Dahm as our Instructional Coach and Mrs. Bukawiec in the Music Room - they are both wonderful additions to the Magee staff! Gaga Ball will open this week at recess, that is a BIG DEAL! Students are working really hard in literacy and math. Students in fourth and fifth grade are digging into Wisconsin.
We had a wonderful turn out for our Back To School PTO Picnic! It was a little windy, but the sunshine was beautiful! This annual tradition is a very special way to start out the year! Thank you for making it great!
#KMKind
Magee teachers spent time encouragine kindness all over Genesee Depot and the KM community by creating kindness posters and posting them posted in various businesses! You never know where you will find them! Thank you to Sideliners, Here's the Scoop, Mama D's in Genesee and Wales, Black Canyon Coffee, LeDuc's, Culver's, Cornerstone and Vittles and Vine!
Parent Teacher Conferences - Time/Date Change
As we did last year, we offered a full day of conference times and then also met with parents when they wanted/needed to meet. This year Parent Teacher Conferences will be on Monday, November 4. If the date/times do not work, please schedule a conference with the individual teacher you would like to meet with.
We look forward to meeting with families now that the school year is into a routine! Please look for Sign Up Genius sign ups to come out in October.
Morning Drop Off
As stated in the Student Handbook, students should NOT be dropped off in the front lobby prior to 8:05AM. Thank you for your support!

Is it unkind or bullying?
Bullying, on the other hand, has three key elements: an imbalance of power, the intent to harm (verbally, physically, emotionally) and is repeated over time. Learners may have tried to make it stop and have been unsuccessful. Having trusted grown ups at home and at school is essential for support in a bullying situation to be effective. Listenting to the learner talk about what is happening is essential to be able to what an effective intervention will look like.
Whether the behavior is mean, rude, unkind or bullying - it hurts. Helping our learners name the behavior and what THEY can do is the first step, and knowing there are trusted adults to help when it IS bullying is CRUCIAL.
Someone once told me that having a child is like wearing your heart on the outside of your body...and it is true. When they are sad and hurt, so am I. From a personal angle, we have helped our own children through mean, rude, unkind and bullying situations. We get one chance to be our child's parent. Please know I am always here to talk through situations and investigate if needed. Together, our Magee Community is making a difference to the learners in our care. #KMKind
