Here it is... March! Does this mean Spring is here? (Or just break up?)
We had a great District Forensics Match here at Tustumena last Saturday. Over 120 kids competed from 14 different schools across the district. Our very own students did great and represented us well. I would like to express a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the staff and community members that helped out with the match. It could not have happened without all of their help. Next year's match is February 25, 2017.
Spring break is just around the corner and it is that tricky time of year with weather. Please be sure your children have good boots to wear at recess. There is a lot of ice from time to time, and rather than making them stay inside, we have been allowing them to go out. The ball court is graveled but there is still a lot of slick areas.
Please be looking at your child's PowerSchool account. The quarter ends March 10 for them (teacher have a work day with me on the 11th). Report cards will come home March 29th.
We also have a planned ALICE drill on March 29th. This is the "intruder" drill where students are evacuated from the campus. We have already prepared the students but if you would like to observe, you are very welcome.
March 10th is the annual 6th Graders vs. Staff basketball game at 2pm. It is a great way to celebrate our time with these great kids. I will be guarding the paint (because I am too old to keep up with the kids on the outside). Parents are welcome to come and watch as we defend our crown.
Best Wishes,
Doug Hayman

Health Tip from Mrs. Abel
“Dancing is great for physical health and is also a great way to connect socially, boost mood, and improve self-confidence. Dance requires the brain to integrate visualization, muscle memory, auditory perception, balance and proprioception. Dancing can be a fun, free way to release stress as well.”
