Fall is Full of Fun!
Our school year is in full swing and our calendar is full of exciting events this fall. This special edition of our newsletter is all about the fun festivities we have occurring over the new few weeks. Please take a moment and add these events to your calendar!

Friday - Pink Out - LCISD Breast Cancer Awareness Event

- Oct. 28 - CEPA "Big Kahuna" Fundraiser Delivery
- Oct. 31 - Halloween Parade and Classroom Parties
All students are permitted to dress like their favorite storybook character. We'd love to have our students parade in costume with their book, as well. What a wonderful way to spark interest in a new book!

Third Grade Field Trip
On Oct. 7, 2016, our 3rd grade classes will have the privilege to attend the Texas
Tech University Whitacre College of Engineering live presentation of Steve Wolf's "Science in the Movies" for elementary students.
This presentation reveals ways science is used to create movie stunts and special effects. Steve Wolf gets the audience excited about science while teaching basic concepts. During this one hour assembly, he and his team perform stunts and effects that teach over 100 essential science and safety concepts.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Entries Due
Please do not carve pumpkins this year; you may paint, draw, glue, and otherwise adorn your pumpkin!
Winners will be announced at Fall Family Fun Night on Thursday, October 13th. Students may take their pumpkins home with them that evening. Any pumpkins not picked up by noon on Friday will be disposed of.

We will have more information coming home soon about a campus initiative to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation in their fight against breast cancer as well as information about other exciting events occurring throughout the district.
Halloween Costumes & Parade
Classroom teachers will be sending home additional information about Halloween parties, which will also take place on October 31.
