PTA Reflections Contest
The search is on for a future National PTA Reflections theme!
Each state selects five student theme suggestions to advance to national-level judging. National PTA then selects one exceptional theme to inspire creativity for the 2019-2020 PTA Reflections program. The student winner will receive $100 and recognition at the Annual National PTA Convention. Theme Search judges look for a focused and clear theme promoting PTA values that is appropriate for all grades and applicable to all arts categories. Past themes are not considered.
To submit your theme suggestions, click the link below. There is no limit to how many different themes you can enter! Deadline for submissions is November 5.

You can use this to help set up playdates (if they even call it that anymore in third grade!), for sending out birthday information, or for having contact with other parents who are working to raise a highly gifted child just like you.
Because this flyer is accessible to the public, I will email everyone the link to the spreadsheet the form creates.
Spelling List and Test
We will have time over 3 days next week to practice the words, but it would help many of them if they had just a few minutes each night to practice the words. I know some are busy with other activities, however, they know that the practice at home would be helpful. If you could have them practice just 10 minutes a few nights between now and Friday, I think it would be very helpful. Thank you!
Lunch with the Principal
In K-2, students qualify to go based on behavior. This year for grades 3-5, students can go if they have met a goal that they set for themselves that month. Only students who meet the goal and have evidence of their progress can attend.
GT Corner
Mrs. Freyou provided us with some information about books for our higher level kiddos that are content appropriate. Thank you, Mrs. Freyou!
Here is some information about reading at a higher level and being conscientious about content appropriate books:
1. http://www.thekidstory.com/books-for-gifted-kids
" Our recommended grade levels are adjusted for high ability readers. For example, a book that is written for typical 12 year olds might be listed here under a younger age – such as 8 or 9. These particular books should be content-safe for the grade level listed, but parental and educator guidance is always suggested, as our recommendations are subjective."
