Media Center Memo

January 2013

Save the Dates! MVMS Book Fair will be Tuesday, February 26 through March 4 from 7:45 am to 4 pm. Family Night is Thursday, February 28. For more info, see our Book Fair web site. Please encourage NCAA fans to contribute to the Penny Wars competition!

I will need a few volunteers to work Family Night AND some help in the mornings if you're available--you may count this time toward STEPS! Thank you in advance!

Stressed out about Common Core?

First, if your students are reading in your class, you're getting there! Common Core just asks us to step it up a bit and 1) focus on more complex text and 2) ask text dependent questions that ask students to analyze what they read. Need help writing TEXT DEPENDENT QUESTIONS? This handout (especially the seven steps listed) will help you write effective questions for the text you're using.

Check out Common Curriculum to align your lessons with Common Core standards. After you sign up, the web site provides you with an online plan book. Enter a lesson, click "search for standard" to find a match. You can also attach files and links AND if you have a blog, you can automatically post your lesson plans. A great place to organize your digital materials!!!
