Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
We are half way through the first quarter of the year! Grade checks and progress reports are being done. Please check or have your student check Harmony to see what current grades are. You are also able to click on the small "bar graph" box next to each class in order to see an "Assignment Summary". This will allow you to see individual assignments, scores, and what may be missing. If there are any concerns or questions, please contact that individual teacher for assistance.
Fall Homecoming is right around the corner. Please see information below about voting and Homecoming Games.
Monday is Patriot's Day (9/11). We honor all of those who served during that time and are privileged to have a few vets serving on our staff at Seeger. Keep in mind those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those continuing to serve our country to give us the freedoms and privileges we ought not take for granted. Thanks to you all!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Everyone can play a role in preventing suicide. Please take the time to learn the warning signs of suicide and how to help keep a person struggling with suicidal ideations safe (at the end of the newsletter as well).
Below I have included information on Warning Signs and 5 Steps To Help from the National Institute of Mental Health.
One of the tools to give someone struggling with a crisis is the number for the Crisis and Suicide Prevention Hotline. You can simply text or call 988 and get help from a crisis volunteer.

Welcome back to our Patriot Way Teacher Feature. This week, we talked with Mr. Springer, who just joined us here at Seeger this year, teaching Algebra II.
While talking with Mr. Springer, we learned that he has an animal companion in the form of his old dog Maggie. She is the “most lovable dog ever.” We also got a little bit of insight into Mr. Springers’s values. When asked if he were to do a TED Talk, he stated that he would speak on the benefits of positive attitude and how consistent effort can lead to great outcomes.
Here are some more fun facts about Mr. Springer!

Seeger won all 5 positions to secure the win in the Seeger Invitational! Seeger plays at home on Monday (Senior Night) versus Fountain Central staring at 4:30, at Harrison on Tuesday starting at 5pm, at North Montgomery on Thursday staring at 5pm, and at Frankfort on Saturday for the Hotdog Invitational. Come out and support these guys and celebrate our seniors on Monday for our Senior Night! These guys are doing some big things this season, and even bigger things are yet to come!

Cross-Country
The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams continue to get stronger and faster!
On Tuesday, they had a small meet with Benton Central and Central Catholic. The Varsity group used the meet as a workout and were still able to pull off a double victory!
On Thursday, the teams competed against some good competition at the Charger Classic run at North Montgomery against 15 other schools. Every runner had either a season-best or a personal -best! Some of them took off over a minute from their previous best times.
The girls ran without Emily Greene and suffered a rare loss to a very deep and tough Hamilton Heights team. Hadessah Austin ran completely alone and broke her own record by 40 seconds! She ran an amazing time of 17:54! To put this in perspective, she would have placed in the top 15 in the Boys race against very tough competition! Caleigh Purcell broke 20:00 for the first time, Adara Austin broke 21:00 for the first time, Hayden Frodge (21:15) and Claire Nern (23:29) finished out the Varsity scoring!
The Boys also put on a show with Ethan Guminski racing with the top runner for most of the race, falling back to 2nd with a small PR (16:42). Nathan Odle placed 5th (17:23) and put himself on the Top 10 Seeger All-Time list, right behind his brother! Jack Puterbaugh and Konner Brenner had huge times (18:06 and 18:11) and Landon Dispennett (19:15) rounded out the Varsity scoring! The boys placed 3rd, but were only 7 points behind the winning team and they beat Crawfordsville for the first time this season!
At Sectionals, they will be fighting against Crawfordsville and Central Catholic for the last spot to make it to Regionals!
If you can, come cheer the teams on at Bi-County this week (Tuesday) at Hanging Rock at 5:00!!

Volleyball
The North Vermillion (Cayuga, IN) varsity volleyball team lost Thursday's home conference match against Seeger (West Lebanon, IN) by a score of 3-0.
Rylea Wetz was named player of the game. She had her best game of the season. She had a great night passing and dominated at the net. She finished the night with 8 kills, 6 blocks and 16 digs.

Come Join FFA!
Hey Patriots!! It’s your 2023-2024 FFA reporter, Jessi Switzer, here to give you all the information about upcoming events YOU can be a part of if you join FFA. Our next meeting will be this Wednesday, September 6th, at 6pm in Mr. Nickle’s room in the AG building. Our activity this month is highway cleanup which will also be held on September 6. This will start right after school and entails cleaning up any trash that is along the highway right in front of the school, which the FFA is in charge of. Bring gloves!! You can stay after the cleanup until the meeting if you would like. If you can’t make it to highway cleanup, that’s okay!! You can always still join us for our meeting! Food WILL be provided so come hungry!! Meeting should conclude around 7pm. If you have not filled out a membership form and are interested in joining FFA, please do so as soon as possible. Another fun thing coming up that you can do with the FFA is district kickoff. District kickoff is a great opportunity to meet other FFA members from all different schools. District kickoff is on September 21st and will be at Ivy Tech in Lafayette. More information on District kickoff will be discussed at September's chapter meeting, so if you are interested in going, talk to us then or by email as soon as possible .One of the best ways to get involved in FFA is by joining a team. There are 4 teams you can choose from when joining; the livestock judging team, forestry team, crops team and soils team. Right now, the forestry team, crops team and soils team are all ready to start practicing and looking for new members. You can get more information about these teams by coming to September’s meeting, or reaching out to Mrs. St. John or Ms. Crowder.
If you have any questions regarding FFA or district kickoff, please stop by the AG building and talk to Mr. Nickle or email any of the advisors or myself.
If you have any questions regarding the forestry, crops or soils teams, please contact Mrs. St. John or stop by and see Ms. Crowder in the AG building.
