Jk2's January News
Miss Gephart
Gingerbread houses!
We had a lot of fun making milk carton gingerbread houses! We then decorated our houses with a variety of different candy including starburst, peppermints, six-lets and lifesavers! We added a tree peep to the outside of our houses and many of us also added paths decorated with candy!
Christmas Concert!
We had so much fun learning different Holiday songs in music class! We couldn't wait to sing them to our families! Some of our favorite songs were "Sabot, Shalom", "The Penguin Song" and of course "Jingle Bells"!
Gingerbread fun!
We completed a wide variety of activities talking about gingerbread men. We had our very own gingerbread man named "Gingy" visit our classroom for several weeks. We created our own gingerbread people and came up with a story about them. We read different gingerbread stories, talked about our favorite and compared and contrasted each story. Our favorite gingerbread activity was going on a gingerbread man hunt! He escaped from our book and left us several clues around the school we needed to follow to try and catch him. We then drew a picture and talked about our favorite part of the gingerbread hunt.
Holiday reading with the third graders!
We had so much fun reading Holiday books with Mrs. Valent's third grade class. We listened and talked about different holiday stories. We each read with two different third grade students.
In the classroom fun!
We have been working hard to learn new things during academic centers in our classroom. We have been writing our letters and sight words using playdough, creating and interpreting bar graphs, and we started talking about money.
Looking ahead to January!
