Visual Arts Club

"The Visual Arts Club has had an outstanding first semester of #ityOURyear here at CJHS. We were honored to have the opportunity to volunteer during CMSS's Annual Frontier Festival. We painted many students faces, and even some adults! We had a wonderful experience and were able to raise over a hundred dollars for the Frontier Festival Fund.

Fall Band Concert and Regional Competition

The 7th grade band is off to a great start! They performed at First Note Night and Ensemble Night. There next concert is in February.

The 8th grade band is having a great year! We performed a Fall Concert and Christmas Concert. The band played with the 9th grade band at a football game and we had 23 students make the ASBOA All-Region Band!

South Basketball in Full Swing

Jr. South 7th and 8th grade basketball is in full swing. Be sure to check the school calendar to keep up with the latest times and opponents for the South Panthers. Jr. South will be hosting the New Year's Eve Tournament starting December 29 and going through December 31.

CJHS Choir Presents the Ye Old Madrigal Feaste

This fall semester has proven to be a successful one for CJHS Choirs. Firstly, there were 15 students who made All-Region Choir this year. This is the most CJHS has had to make All-Region in the last 10 years. CJHS choirs received excellent and superior ratings at the ARKCDA Central Region Fall Invitational Festival. Our newly developed male chorus received all superior ratings. Choraliers, a select mixed ensemble performed at Cabotfest and did a fantastic job. Check out the video of their performance on facebook. The choirs have performed outstanding concerts with high attendance by parents and members of the school district and general community including: Fall Chili Supper Fundraiser Concert in which CJHS Choirs joined forces with the choirs from CFA and CJHN. CJHS Choirs performed their annual Christmas Concert December 1st, once again proving an outstanding choral program. Our first Madrigal Feast Fundraiser Dinner Show was hosted at CJHS December 3rd featured our Choraliers as the performers, including Mr. Shirron as Court jester and Mrs. Carmical as Queen. Finally, Choraliers were invited to perform at the Cabot Christmas Lighting Ceremony as well as at the December PRIDE Assembly. They have also been invited to do some caroling around the community as well. It has been a very busy, but very rewarding semester for CJHS Choirs. I look forward to what is in store next semester. Check out some of the photos from some of our performances...

JV8 Forensics has had a fantastic semester. They competed in tournaments at Bentonville High School, Little Rock Central High School, and North Little Rock High School. The team has already scored over 235 breaks to semifinals and finals this season, along with two first place Words and Music performances and one first place in Reader's Theatre. Next semester JV8 Forensics will compete at the Cabot Classic tournament in January and at Fayetteville High School in March.

National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society has record membership this year. In October they participated in Race For the Cure. In November they lead a school-wide fundraiser and service project for Arkansas Children's Hospital. This December they are sponsoring several children through Cabot Christmas Alliance. Next semester they will host the school talent show, which serves as a fundraiser for the Dakota Hawkins Scholarship. 7th grade candidates will be notified of eligibility in April. New member inductions will be in May.
