Message from Mr. Hanzeli
Happy New Year Elger Bay Families!
I'm very excited to be sending you this edition of our newsletter as it includes important information about the return of our students to the AA/BB Hybrid in school learning model in the coming weeks. Please review the full letter (below) that came from the district on Friday.
STUDENT IN PERSON DATES
K-3 and PBS return the week of January 19. In addition, we are super excited to report that Grade 4 and Grade 5 will return the week of February 1. For those with children in the younger grades, you will know the routines. For those who do not, we will be sure to get you the information that you will need to be ready for your hybrid AA/BB schedule. If you are not sure or do not remember whether your grade 4 or 5 student is in the AA (Monday / Tuesday) or BB (Thursday / Friday) schedule, please Email our office registrar, Janet Peterson: jpeterson@stanwood.wednet.edu
DISTANCE LEARNING THIS WEEK
Reminder that this week (1/11/21 - 1/15/21) we continue to be in distance learning. Thanks to all of you for staying really well connected with your teachers. I am incredibly impressed with everyone's commitment to making the very most of each experience.
MRS. BARDON (G5) AND MRS. NELLES (G1) DISTANCE
You have selected to remain in distance learning for the remainder of the year and your distance learning classes will continue on in the same way.
DISTANCE SCHEDULE = SNOW SCHEDULE
It will be important that when we return in another week that you not throw away the schedule and meet codes for your child's class as these will be important should we end up having a snow day this winter. If school is declared to be in session...but not at the building...this will be the schedule that teachers will follow.
As always, be sure to let us know if you have any questions as we walk through these coming transitions.
With gratitude to each of you for making this such a great school!

Hello Elger Bay Families!
Be sure to keep this newsletter at hand as it contains much of the key information and links to documents you will need for the distance learning January 4 - January 18.
This is the Special Edition of the EBE Home Connections Newsletter I promised in the 12/4 edition. Over the break, please take a moment to look it over to see if you have any questions. In addition, take a couple minutes to "unload" your child's backpack to see if there are any supplies or materials they will need set aside and secured for January 4, 2021.
All of our newsletters are also posted on the Elger Bay Elementary school website.
This edition includes the following:
- K-5 ELA and Math Google Meet Schedule
- K-5 Specialist Google Meet Schedule
- Wednesday Homeroom Office Hour Schedule
- Homeroom Class Codes for Google Meets
- Specialist Codes (by homeroom) for Google Meets
- Special Program (Resource Room, Title I, and PBS) General Plan and Communication Point. (These special programs will be sending specific plans to each family to whom this applies)
- ...and much more :-)
Some classes will be sending home some supplemental activities that will go with the online instruction in early January. These are not full instructional packets, but support elements to what will be taught those two weeks in January.
In addition, we will try to make sure that every student has taken home their chromebook and charger on their last day this week.

SCSD Friday Family Message, 1.8.21 (Repeat)
Good Afternoon,
We hope all of our families, students and staff are healthy after the holiday season. As mentioned in our December 10 communication, the district will resume its current in-person instruction model for P-12 special populations and K-3 students who are currently being served in the hybrid model on January 19, 2021.
Based upon the updated Department of Health and OSPI guidance, we will be bringing back grades 4 and 5 students in an AA/BB hybrid model beginning February 1.
On January 15, we will review case counts and discuss a timeline for returning our middle and high school students to in person learning.
Please continue to follow the health department guidance of avoiding gatherings with individuals outside of your own households, avoid travel outside of Washington State, and follow all other strategies to reduce transmission of COVID 19 (e.g. hand washing, mask wearing).
Thank you for your support of the Stanwood-Camano Schools, our staff and students.

General Distance Learning Expectations
All students in grades K-5 will participate in Google Meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Their classroom teacher will have two 30-minute Google Meets for English/Language Arts and Math. The specialist will provide a 20-minute Google Meet for P.E. or Music.
On Wednesdays, all teachers are available to answer questions or provide support during their Google Meet Office Hour. Please join using the provided Google Meet Code.
The remainder of the day should be spent working on the assignments and materials provided. Students in grades K-2 will access assignments through Seesaw or iXL. Grades 3-5 will use Google Classroom, iXL, and Reflex. Some teachers may have also provided paper materials for students. If you receive these from your child this week or by mail, please set them aside until after winter break to use beginning January 4.
Meals During Distance Learning
FREE 7-day meals are available for children ages 1-18 and students in the distance learning model. The 7-day meal reservation window is open weekly from 7pm Friday to 3pm Monday. Click the button below for meal ordering.
We need your help in our mission to make delicious and nutritious meals accessible to all families in our community while reducing food waste. Preorders let us know how many meals to prepare. Although each location will have additional meals on hand, there is no guarantee that a meal will be available without preordering.
Meal pick up will be every Friday between 4:30 and 6:30 at each of the district's elementary schools.
