Principal's Note...
Happy Friday! I hope everyone is ready for a fun-filled, New England Autumn (long) weekend!
A major pillar of our school community is the shared philosophy of having a growth mindset. We believe that everyone can learn and achieve greater things than they ever could imagine if they are able to take a growth mindset perspective. This approach is not something that only applies to school. Children (and adults) can apply these principles to all aspects of their lives including sports, arts, dance, music, etc.
Below is a graphic that demonstrates the difference between a "growth mindset" and a "fixed mindset." Try it at home...it really is a great approach!
Have a great weekend!
Best,
John

Book Fair!
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! October 15-18 the Scholastic Book Fair will be here giving students, parents, grandparents and friends the opportunity to purchase books. Not only is it a great way to get kids excited about reading but it also raises money for our PTO and enables us to restock the book shelves in all our classrooms. Keep a look out for more information on the fair, class visits time and volunteer opportunities coming soon. Please contact Molly Prinn (msprinn@gmail.com) with any questions.
Request from the front office:
Please be sure to put your child’s last name on all correspondence sent in to the teachers. Thank you for your help!
Help Wanted!
We are currently searching to build our substitute pool for the 18-19 school year. Do you know someone locally who has experience working with children in a school setting? Please have them email Mrs. Dodge directly at dodgec@mersd.org and we can take them through the application and screening process. Thanks so much in advance!

Oversight of Children at Evening Sporting Events
MERHS loves spirit at Friday evening sporting events. Games are a wonderful place for the community to come together. We would like to remind parents that there is not specific supervision of children during the game. We request that parents attend evening games with their children (Elemenary and MS Age). We want to make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening. Go Hornets!
