THE CONFERENCE OPENING ON SUNDAY
ACURIL 2017 PUERTO RICO - THE PROGRAM
Multidisciplinary Research in the Caribbean: A Collaborative Approach
The theme of this conference covers the diversity of libraries, archives and museums in the Caribbean. Libraries, whether school, public, specialized or academic, are dedicated to the promotion of reading, access to information and documentation in order to support study, teaching and research efforts. The archives and museums keep a wealth of documents and objects, heritage of the countries they represent, in support of study teaching and research efforts. All units participate in multidisciplinary research in the Caribbean,
This conference aims to bring together the community of information professionals and researchers interested in studying the various issues of the region. It also extends an invitation to those researchers with emerging interests in this area. It stimulates the attention of the Caribbean community in the immense opportunities of shared research for development and sustainability in the region. Research in the disciplines of the Caribbean region depends on the availability and knowledge of the representative samples. These samples serve as a fundamental reference to generate new knowledge about the region, contribute to its growth and leads to a deeper understanding of the processes that created and shaped it. The conference seeks to know and evaluate the availability of resources in the knowledge base.
The conference program seeks to bring together the multidisciplinary research being done in the Caribbean, offering opportunities to present a wide range of topics in various research areas, particularly to: • strengthen the scientific knowledge base in and around the Caribbean;• foster collaboration among information professionals, researchers and research colleagues, research institutions and organizations associated with the Caribbean;• stimulate sustainable development and innovation in the Caribbean region;• contribute to the development of regional capacity through the participation of regional colleagues (students, information professionals and researchers) and organizations in joint research projects in favor of the development of a Caribbean Community of Researchers.
