COVID-19 Update
Dear Louisville Families,
Following the order provided by Governor Ricketts, Louisville Public Schools will be closed through the end of May. At this time, that includes the entire facility including but not limited to: parking lots, the track, football field, basketball courts and both playgrounds. I recognize this is not the end of the 2019 - 2020 school year that we had all wanted, as we were hoping the curve would “flatten” and we could return to school in May. Looking at the current situation, more time and space is needed to protect our students, families, and the Louisville community.
Moving forward, our approach to remote learning will continue through the end of the school year. As a district, we understand this asks a lot of our students, parents and families as a whole. Please know we will continue to bring constant communication, grace and understanding to the process. LPS will continue to improve our approach to remote academics. Our goals as a district are simple. We want to do everything we can to connect our children with their teachers and classmates, as well as provide educational opportunities to our students.
In regards to graduation, the end of the school year and other important events, we will be in touch in the near future with more details. If possible, our intent is to provide our students with these valuable experiences within the guidelines provided by the Governor and Health Departments.
Louisville Public Schools teachers, students, parents, and administrators have amazed me with their creativity, connectivity to families and willingness to adapt to an unprecedented situation. I am certain our academic community will continue to grow and strengthen through this process.
On another note, I am also very thankful and impressed with our current approach to food delivery. With the help of volunteers and numerous donations from the community, we are providing weekly meal plans to several families.
As we progress through May and this situation continues, if your family needs food assistance, or you would like to donate either food or funds to assist in feeding our families, please contact Cindy Osterloh, (costerloh@lpslions.org), Linda Allen, (lallen@lpslions.org), or myself (afarber@lpslions.org).
As a district, we are here for you, and we will continue to connect with our students and families until we can all be together again in person.
Thank you,
Andrew Farber
